    3. This year my male Jones first cousin and I submitted a DNA sample to FTDNA and had the 67 marker test done. We have a 100% marker through the 37th marker with a man whose JAMES WILLIAM2 JONES, b. 09 Dec 1850, Georgia is matched up with our Jones line of James Jones who died in Franklin Co., NC in Sept/Oct 1823. We know that our James Jones was married to a woman named Tamer at the time of his death, he did have a prior marriage to a woman named Mary, surname unknown. In a complaint filed by Tamer who had been duped by a lawyer son-in-law and daughters of James Jones out of her share of the estate. She stated that her husband James had been married before and had a great many children. Do you have a Jones in Georgia that you have not been able to find family on, if so maybe we should compare notes. Our James Jones had children in Franklin, we do not know if these children were from Mary or Tamer. If they were Tamers, they sure treated her badly..... The childrens names were. Allen Jones who married Mary and migrated to Madison Co., TN, David Jones who md. Patience Freeman, they migrated to Haywood Co., TN, John King Jones, md. to Sarah Dent, migrated to Haywood Co., TN, Sarah Jones md. James Timberlake, stayed in Franklin Co., NC, Barsheba Jones, md. Bennett King, migrated to Wythe Co., VA, Mary Jones md. Job Self migrated to MO where Mary died, then he went to AL and remarried to Tamar Stringfellow, they then went to Sabine Co., LA. Last daughter was Nancy Jones of whom we have no information. The descendants of Job Self and Mary Jones have been told that Mary Jones was 1/2 Cherokee, which would have come from her mothers side as far as we know. There is no tradition in my line that we have native American ancestry, but have been told by other lines they have been. If anyone has any questions please write. This James Jones has really been a brick wall for a long long time. Good to see interest pick up on the list. Happy Columbus Day. Becky Jones Pacey Eagar, AZ
