    3. Dorthory, Thanks for responding to my post. I've found some references to a William Jones who obtained a 550 acre patent for land near Corapeak in 1693. Loosing Swamp is just south of Corapeake. In 1700 a Capt Charles Drury obtained a patent for 209 acres along Loosing Swamp next to land owned by William Jones and John Powell. So we might have a connection here. I've managed to trace back my line to Joseph Jones who married Amelia Trevathan in 1806. I think his father may have been Demsey Jones. If I can connect my Joseph to your William that would be great. Any help will be appreciated. Hopefully, your cousin, Elton Jones ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dorothy McCarns" <dlmccarns@sbcglobal.net> To: <jones@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 29, 2007 12:13 PM Subject: Re: [JONES] Jones families Gates County NC > My Jones line was in Gates County,NC too, went there from VA. 3. Elton, Have you done the DNA test yet? My cousin did the test for me and that is how I found out about William Jones. I have copied a lot of information on the Joneses in Gates County. I went to the Library in Salisbury, NC last month. I will look through the information I copied, I am still trying to process it, so much, so many Joneses. At the least maybe we can sort out these Jones families and see where they all connect. Keep in touch. I'll try to look for your Jones info tonight and get back to you.
