The COPE I have is Elizabeth Cope born about 1745. She married Vinson/Vincent Jones. They lived on the north fork of the New River in Ashe Co., N.C. I know that some COPEs married Bashams in Virginia, I believe, and some came into Kentucky and settled in the southeastern part of the state. I have very little on that family. My goal before dying is to find parents of Vinson Jones. Hi list, Here is what I have for my husband's lines. I am leaving a lot of info out at the moment, just to make this as short as possible. I sure hope we get more JONES interested in doing their Genealogy DNA. That would be fantastic. Edward JONES m. Deborah EXUM Edward m. Abigail SUGAN James m. Charity ALSTON Thomas m. Catherine McKelroy SHAW John Washington m. Elizabeth PERRY Alexander Mitchell m. Matilda Washington BASS John Washington II m. Martha Thomas HAMILTON William Mitchell m. Emma Janette MASTERSON Arthur Frank m. Kathleen Pryor MORGAN If anyone knows where Emma Janette MASTERSON was born and who her parents were, I would really love to hear. There are 3 on the census that match for date of birth. One from MO, one from KY and the last from PA. William Mitchell was living in Arkansas when he met Emma They were married 1902 and Emma died 1909 so she is not on census, married. The marriage cert. does not give names of parents. Later census states for children that their mother was born in Arkansas. That is wrong as there was no MASTERSON in Arkansas for 1880 or 1900 census. Emma was born 1879. She is supposedly buried in Oakgrove Cemetery in Searcy, White County, Arkansas but I have not been able to get picture of large headstone. Sue macduff@infionline.net

Hi All, Have been reading about the Joneses in Tennessee but not seeing my Jones from there so decided to post mine in case someone knows about him. My interest is Bryant Jones born Apr 1822 some place in Tennessee. Bryant died May 1902 in Jackson County Arkansas. Bryant married Sarah Breckenridge and had a son Andrew who is our line. Andrew also died in Jackson County Arkansas. Would really enjoy hearing from anyone who is connected or at least knows about the family. Thanks. Becky Pacey wrote: Hi, Thought I would post 3 generations of James Jones of Franklin Co., NC. I had my male first cousin do the 67 marker test and 37 are in and matched up. I sure wish more of the folks with Franklin Co.NC roots would be tested. We do have a couple of exact matches and one through the 37th marker so far. Still have not been able to connect up to him, but we will sure keep trying. Becky, I'd like to know if you have any ancestors al all for this James JONES? I have JONES in Rowan County, NC earlier than this James and James is a common given name in my line. In fact, we have a James who disappeared. Where is your DNA posted? Jack, I don't know his (William's) wife's name yet, but his children are Henry, John, Charles, Joane (married a Lysle), Elizabeth (can't find notes on her marriage), Dorothy (married a Spiers). I recently went to Salisbury, NC and did research in the library there, the archives is closed for renovation, and found a lot of information on Jones' and a lot that I know is my line, but I am still putting it all together. Since we brought our granddaughters home with us for the summer, it is slow going on the research. Since my dad is 86 I do want to get this done as soon as possible and try to see where the family's memories come from. So far I am not finding that connection in facts either. Hope this makes sense. I'll post more later, time to take Dad to the doctor and other important stuff of life! Dorothy
We can't give up yet! I am seeing lots of possible matches for the in-betweens of my Jones line, and at least it gives me another place to look. I appreciate everyone listing their Jones lines! Dorothy
I have a William Jones wno might have been the same person, so I am very interested. I have both the male and female DNA. The Jones line is my mother's. She was born in Clay Co.,KY and the farthest back I (or anyone else) has ever gone is to Vinson/Vincent JONES, born 1745 in Virginia. (CD #-----?) He ent west and settled in Ashe County, N.C. and married Elizabeth Cope. His relatives were also in Grayson Co.,VA which is contiguous with Ashe.
