Hello, Its been awhile since I asked about finding the ancestry of my Abraham Jones, he married Eleanor Cooksey in February 9, 1828 in Fauquier county. They removed to Coshocton county, Ohio between 1828 and 1830 because he was on the 1830 census in Coshocton county, Ohio. According to civil war records he said he was born in Hampshire, I am not sure if that is a town or a township or county and not sure if its in Virginia or West Virginia. Could someone enlighten me on that one? Abraham was born between 1807 and 1810. OK you have his death date? or he dissappears at this time? if you look at later census records it should say where childrens parents born so you should find state he born in via that information. I did that with my JONES and others. It will say they born KY father born? mother born SC so look at 1870 or so for parents birthd data then you can hone in on state at least. Also check if all four children put same state. Alas my 9 did not was it ever fun. then I learned boundaries changed so was same.
