    2. Dear JONES Researchers, The only census I've been able to find my Amos JOYNER b abt 1786/90 in Franklin Co, NC, was the 1830. Have proof he died before Jun 1838. The info regarding an AMOS JONES JOYNER was found on a tree on the internet. Amos married Lottie Polly JONES, b abt 1800 whose mother (possibly ANNIE?) was a BOON(E) and married a JOE/JOSEPH JONES b ? Need your help regarding my g-g-gf Amos JOYNER who died in Franklin Co, NC. 1. Re: [JONES] JONES, Joseph - Franklin Co, NC
    2. Do you have a list of Joseph Jones's children. I have a Franklin Co. NC Jones - James Jones - that I've been unable to connect definitely with any Jones family. He died in Franklin Co. in 1822, so he seems to be a generation behind Joseph. Thanks for any help Karen -----Original Message----- From: WinkieFL@aol.com To: JONES@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, 5 Sep 2007 9:23 am Subject: [JONES] JONES, Joseph - Franklin Co, NC Dear JONES researchers, I have just located a Joseph JONES listed in the INDEX OF NORTH CAROLINA ANCESTORS, Vol. II. Appears to have been published by NC Genealogical Society in 1984. JOSEPH JONES' death is listed as C1797, Franklin Co, NC, and his wife is listed as HANNAH (CODE 28728, not sure what this code # means). Does anyone have a connection to this family and his children. My family's story is that a Lottie Polly (aka Mary Elizabeth?) JONES mar our ancestor, Amos JOYNER, in Franklin Co, NC. If you have knowledge of this Joseph JONES, please contact me or write the list. Glad to share my genealogy info. 1. [JONES] William Jones and Anna L. Woodruff
    2. I am looking for info on my gggrandparents. They are WILLIAM JONES and ANNA LOUISE WOODRUFF. I think they were in Tennessee first and then came up to Massachusetts. My ggrandmother, ANNA LOUISA JONES, was born in Jackson, TN in 1872/1873. Unfortunately, they did not keep birth records when she was born. I am trying to figure out date of William and Anna's marriage and location, and if there were other children also. According to the census of 1900, their daughter (Anna Louisa Jones) indicated that her parents were born in Tennesse. Anna Louisa Jones ended up in MA with her parents and married WALTER A.COOPER in 1898. Thus, having 5 children, (one died I assume at birth). My grandmother was Myrtle Eliza Cooper born in Massachusetts in 1911. If anyone thinks they have a connection or so.. please dont hesitate to contact me. One is that females can't have DNA tests to find ancestral lines or relatives, just don't work on females. < Y DNA tests trace the surname -- son to father to grandfather, etc. Y DNA is passed down in the male line only. Women have two X chromosomes, no Y. This test is the most helpful one for genealogical work since surnames are what we are following. If a woman wants to follow a surname, she must get a father, brother, uncle or cousin on the male line, etc. to test for her. The mtDNA test is similar in that it traces female DNA - daughter to mother to grandmother, etc. The only problem with this for genealogical purposes is that there is no surname to follow. If, however, you are interested in whether or not you and another woman who both claim to be descended on strictly female lines from the same woman, are really related, then an mtDNA test would tell you that. You may want to read up on some of the old crossings of rivers in the area you are searching. Probably you have already done this. Just a reminder. 3. DNA is for male lineage only. MTDna is for female lineage only. NOW to confuse you. A male can test for both Y DNA and MTDna. A female can only test for the MTDna of their mother and that mothers mother. etc back so names will constantly change. They recently learned how to split the Fibers to do deeper tests on the DNA submitted. Information released last week. Most tests basically just tell of the region your kin came from unless, big word here, someone else has worked the line back at least 12 generations you probably won't see a clear link. I have mine back 12 generations and can not get brother to test. I do believe I will find others of the same line. The other thing is you have to test deep enough to have link. I for future sake did the first test on kin so we have the data and will up grade the tests down the road when more funds available and the human may not be. I am doing or hoping brother will test for DNA to prove my lineage to TEAGUE JONES, son of Christopher JONES of the Mayflower. I have it on paper that we link. But the papers needed to prove for societies are not the same. Since they are taking DNA as proof I am pleading with brother to do test. It really is not as non accurate as some tend to make us believe as you stated courts use DNA but then you have to realize that those DNA tests are not the same as the ones we are paying for. We as individual I doubt could afford those types of tests and we really do not need them. We are only attempting to prove lineage and relationships. FTDna is a great source of information and you can always google about the two tests done and learn more. Also National Geographic Society is doing some testing also. :>) Susi On Sep 13, 2007, at 4:35 PM, Margaret Prior Boyer wrote: > Curious about the DNA tests. So many 'tales' swishing around!
