Sandy, I agree with you. It seems like I get lots of junk mail...I usually notice it after opening a forward from a friend or go to a news site to see one of the news reports. As far as not being able to get on Ancestry...I've had that problem too. Call the 1-800 number and talk with someone in person. Be persistant even if you've not felt you had luck in the past. You pay way too much for Ancestry to not be able to get on line and work and someone there can help you understand the problem with your password. Margaret Mabrey, I agree w ith you I have used Rootsweb for years and never affiliated that stuff to Rootsweb. What is that lady doing t o get that. I laugh because I can't even get my code from Ancestry to let me in to post on Rootsweb. I have emailed them many times. My old posts still bring results but there is no way I can answer them any more. I have five JONES lines and ever so often a nother kin is found. James Wiley or Wiley James Jones had a brother named Richard Jones that came to Fulton County, Illinois with him. James married Elmira Wright... they are my greatgrandparents... James Wiley had an Uncle I believe called Wiley "Dick" Jones... I correspond with my distant cousin from that connection... I would like to know if anyone has any more information or a connection perhaps... my great grandfather had the same name as his father who married Sarah Goldsmith in Fulton County... my great grandfather was born 1849 in Illinois, not Tennessee... it is his father James Wiley Jones (great great grandfather) born about 1821 in Tennessee ... moved with family to Illinois, married Sarah Goldsmith, had children... I do know he had a brother named Richard married an Augusta Smith (the one born in Illinois).. Augusta's father had married twice... sigh, gets confusing after awhile... senior James Wiley or Wiley James married Sarah, had Marietta, Vincent, Sarah, Isaac, Edward, Leonard, Richard, Eliza A., James Wiley*, Clarissa Adaline, and Nancy. -- http://www.genealogy4free.myfamily.com (tons of free stuff) by invitation only-- --------------------- Ask me about free ebooks dealing with genealogy such as: KENTUCKY PIONEER COURT RECORDS, HISTORY OF KNOX COUNTY ILLINOIS, VITAL RECORDS OF TAUNTON MASSACHUSETTS to name a few. Kathi, I have two Jones ancestral lineages and also a Hudson ancestor. I thought perhaps I might find something through Rootsweb, but onced again all I got was IMMEDIATE messsages flooding my mail box from people selling sexual products, etc. I have had to have my address changed since I used Rootsweb before, now will have to do so again. This has to be where these people are getting my adresses as I never heard from any of them before I used Rootsweb, both times. I would think Rootsweb would investigate this and put a stop to the hackers reaching into their site. And I've never found anything to help me on Rootsweb, seems if most people gets back to mid 1800s they get stumped. I need in the 1700s. Evidently no one has been there or done that. It has been a while since I asked for info on this line, since I FOUND my granddad Charles M W Jones a couple of years ago. Now I want MORE, LOL.... Charles was a son of William Heflin Jones; Heflin was a son of Calvin Sneed Baker Jones and Martha Moore Perry. Calvin is said to be a son of James Jones Jr and Naomi Baker, most likely of Orange Co NC. If we are reading the old censuses right, Calvin was Naomi's last child and James remarried soon to whom we believe was Catherine Cheek. (James Jr's daddy James Jones Sr is said to have been a preacher, but we don't know to which religion he belonged. Baptist or Methodist would be likely.) James Sr probably came from VA to NC. Does anyone know this family? I have the children of James Jr and 2nd wife Catherine from the Rockingham Co NC 1850 census, but would like to find the names of all the children from James and Naomi's marriage. Besides Calvin, there are 10 more. There may be a Susannah, a James, and a Richard in there. dotsicle

Does anyone have a connection to Thomas JONES, born Abergavenny July 1843. He later moved to Herefordshire, married Hannah JONES, then in 1881, with five children, emigrated to USA. Settled in New York area. Mike

Hi, I have a JONES family that was living in Dale & Coffee COs, AL and Stewart & Randolph COs, GA before moving on to TX. Joel was the father to a large family. He was born abt 1779 in NC and while a young man he moved with his parents to SC then on to AL & GA. He first married Cozar ORR in abt 1814 in SC and they had the following children; Henry E., 2 unknown daughters, and Nancy. Cozar died in abt 1827 in GA and Joel married Kissiah (Keziah) ORR who maybe related to Cozar somehow. I just don't know how at this time. Kissiah and Joel had the following children; Cullen, Franklin, O.M. and Elizabeth. By 1850 Joel had moved to Stewart CO, GA and by 1860 he had moved on to Dale CO, AL near one of his sons. It is believed he died on Jan 13, 1873 in Dale CO. or Pike CO, AL and Kissiah died sometime aft 1870. If this sounds like some of your JONES I would love to share information with you. Thanks, Georgann Hunter
Georgeann, Do you have an Andrew Walker of Pike County, Alabama in your line? My great great grandmother Margaret Walker was his daughter. Margaret married Sterling H. Brooks in Pike County, Ala. They migrated to Texas following the Civil War. Dear JONES List researchers, You have seen my queries relative to Amos JOYNER b abt 1786/90--d bef Jun 1838 and his wife Lottie Polly JONES b abt 1800--d aft 1870. There is a story (not documented to date) that Polly (aka Mary Elizabeth) JONES' mother was a BOON(E) who marr a JONES. Would like to see a roll call on all JOYNER families who lived in Franklin Co in these early years and especially any related to JOYNER or BOON(E) families through marriage. Hopefully, some of you may be related to this family or have knowledge of them. In my search for these ancestors, I may have some info collected on your JONES ancestors in Franklin or nearby counties. Dear Karen, I'm sorry but the only information I had on Joseph JONES was his dod 1757 & wife, Hannah taken from the document I quoted.. In searching for surname JONES in Franklin Co, NC, there were 2 men named James JONES, in the 1790 census but I don't have any given names for this family except Lottie Polly JONES, b abt 1800, who mar Amos JOYNER b abt 1786/90--d before Jun 1838.
