If anybody is interested in this Jones in McLennan co, Tx, I can add to it that I have a Thomas and Daniel Jones, that left Hancock co, Tn in 1851/2 and migrated to McLennan co, Tx. I don't know if there is a connection or not. If anyone makes a connection, I would like to know about it. There is also a later Wiley Jones in the same Tenn co b 1855. May be a connection. Any info would be appreciated! Special to the News: Waco, Tex., March 11--Major wiley Jones, the pioneer turfman of Texas, fell dead this morning while taking his customary forenoon walk. He settled in Texas in 1848, and moved from Milam County to McLennan in 1851. His father, Col. Aguilla Jones, a distinguished Tennesseean, was a lover of fine horses and when Major Wiley Jones left Tennessee to settle in Texas his father gave him part of his fine stable.
