I have an Augustus Jones born 1830 in Duanesburg, NY but living in Albany proper in 1850, with I presume, his sister. According to his death certificate, his parents were Henry and Susan Jones, so Henry would be born sometime before 1812.... This is one of many brick walls I haven't been able to focus on.... --Rob

This year my male Jones first cousin and I submitted a DNA sample to FTDNA and had the 67 marker test done. We have a 100% marker through the 37th marker with a man whose JAMES WILLIAM2 JONES, b. 09 Dec 1850, Georgia is matched up with our Jones line of James Jones who died in Franklin Co., NC in Sept/Oct 1823. We know that our James Jones was married to a woman named Tamer at the time of his death, he did have a prior marriage to a woman named Mary, surname unknown. In a complaint filed by Tamer who had been duped by a lawyer son-in-law and daughters of James Jones out of her share of the estate. She stated that her husband James had been married before and had a great many children. Do you have a Jones in Georgia that you have not been able to find family on, if so maybe we should compare notes. Our James Jones had children in Franklin, we do not know if these children were from Mary or Tamer. If they were Tamers, they sure treated her badly..... The childrens names were. Allen Jones who married Mary and migrated to Madison Co., TN, David Jones who md. Patience Freeman, they migrated to Haywood Co., TN, John King Jones, md. to Sarah Dent, migrated to Haywood Co., TN, Sarah Jones md. James Timberlake, stayed in Franklin Co., NC, Barsheba Jones, md. Bennett King, migrated to Wythe Co., VA, Mary Jones md. Job Self migrated to MO where Mary died, then he went to AL and remarried to Tamar Stringfellow, they then went to Sabine Co., LA. Last daughter was Nancy Jones of whom we have no information. The descendants of Job Self and Mary Jones have been told that Mary Jones was 1/2 Cherokee, which would have come from her mothers side as far as we know. There is no tradition in my line that we have native American ancestry, but have been told by other lines they have been. If anyone has any questions please write. This James Jones has really been a brick wall for a long long time. Good to see interest pick up on the list. Happy Columbus Day. Becky Jones Pacey Eagar, AZ
Mary: I would love to have a copy of your obituary ebook. jimjone09@comcast.net I am researching the descendants of Hugh Jones from VA, SC, GA, AL, AR and LA.

I also would like a copy of the book. This is my Jones family: Evan Jones born Wales about 1803 was a coal miner. Evan had a son, James E. Jones, born Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales 1834/35. James married Catharine Henry. James and Catharine immigrated to the US in 1856 They had a daughter, Margaret born 1858 in Cincinnatti, Ohio and in 1860 were in Versailles, Allegheny County, PA. Margaret Jones married George Danley in NJ in 1878 and they remained in NJ. I don't know if there were other children born to James and Catharine or when/where James and Catharine died.f Thanks for any help! Mary, I'm sorry to complain about the unwanted e-mail~ but if something is offered by someone ~ people need to contact the one who's offering it, not everyone on the list. I agree, that if someone has info that someone else can use in their research ~ that's wonderful. I have helped a few along the way and I have been helped in return. I know too ~ what it's like running into brick walls and finding that link to get over it. I commend you for doing this book. It's a huge undertaking and time consuming. Good luck. I don't envy you. I know that the Jones surname is one of the largest and hardest to research, but I have never gotten any info from the Jones list that has helped me in my research. I may unsubscribe to it anyway. Bobbie
I would also appreciate receiving a copy of the Jones "e-book" when it is available. Please send it to the address in my sigline below. Strangely enough, my Jones ancestor was not only living during my lifetime, but is one of my major 17-year "brick walls." Following is her basic information: Name - Ida M. Jones (no idea what the "M." stands for) Birth - 19 Jan 1867 in Indiana Married - James Ernest Oliver in Marion County, Indiana Died - 1 Nov 1966 in Miami, Dade County, Florida I very recently discovered her parents' names, Henry Jones & Jennie Russell but I know absolutely nothing more about them than just that, no details whatsoever. I am hoping maybe this "Jones e-book" may shed some light on what has been a very frustrating search, but in the meantime if anyone else has even a small fragment of information on her or her parents, I would very much welcome hearing from you. Ida M. Jones was my g-grandmother, but my immediate family lost contact with her for a great many years. When I started working on the family genealogy 17 or 18 years ago I tried to find something on "my Jones line" at a time when I did not even know a birth surname for her. My wife and I still laugh about the time I discovered her maiden surname about two years ago, and the "shriek" I let out when I found it! Unfortunately, when I found it after all those years it was Jones, and given the number of Joneses in the world to look through, it only confirmed that "were it not for my bad luck I would not have any luck at all." And the search goes on. . . . . David E. Cann decann@infionline.net

Would like a copy of the JOnes book, also. Have three lines of Jones plus the one to whom I'm married. Jane D. Jones ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
