I too am delighted with the action on this list and I would like to receive the e-book posting. However I would request that all of us send our Jones obituaries so that they may be added to the e-book. My brick wall is James A. Jones who was born 11 October 1831 in Hume, Allegheny Co., NY (according to LDS records only) and married Clarissa Hale b. 10 Oct 1836 in Warsaw, Wyoming Co., NY daughter of Philander Hale and Clarissa Hatch Hale. In 1850 census James appears as a 19 year old farm worker on Philander's farm and in 1860 Clarissa Jones is in her fathers home with Children Ida Jones born in 1854 and Francis born 1857. James is not listed and I have not found him elsewhere to be sure. He died 14 Nov 1866 supposedly in Buffalo, but is buried beside his son Francis (d. 29 Mar 1867) in the Hale plot in Warsaw Cemetery. In WNY News for 22 Nov 1866 the following death notice appeared: "JONES Nov 14, Mr. James Jones - aged 36 years." The marriage is also mentioned in Andrew Young "The History of the town of Warsaw, NY, c. 1869, page 276 in the biographical sketch of Caleb Hatch. I have no other information and there are no surviving males in this line. I have tried to find his parents but there are many possible Joneses as you all know. > *************************************

dear Chris, thank you for replying, my father was Carlton Jones, son of Hiram Sylvester Jones of Missouri , son of Milton Jones of Missouri, son of Hezekiah Jones of Missouri, son of john Jones of Virginia, son of Robert Jones of Virginia , son of Robert Jones of Virginia, son of Robert son's of Scotland born 1605,son of Thomas Jones of Scotland. most of our family immigrated from Virginia to Missouri via Tenn and Kentucky to Missouri. i know that my grandfather was staying with Jones relatives in Arkansas when he met and courted and married my grandmother Effie Suzanne Greer, they then returned to Missouri and raised their family, Arthur,, Orville, Attlee, Effie, Carlton and Hiram Wilkerson, my father and all of his siblings are now dead and while i have been able to trace and contact my aunt Effie's children, i have never been able to connect with the children of uncle Orville or uncle Hiram. i guess the search is still on.thank you for the information you sent on, i will keep my eye open for any information concerning your lines. And all apparently unrelated... The first is my 8th greatgrandfather William Jones father of Elizabeth Jones married to Captain John Duvall, son of Mareen Duvall and Mary Bouth. The other two Jones lines are on my husband's (hubby being the immigrant) side: William Jones born about 1838 in St. Asaph, Flintshire, Wales to Daniel Jones and Anne. Can find nothing further on Daniel and Anne. William Jones married Dorothy Jones born about 1838 in Llanynys, Denbighshire, Wales to David Jones (born Pentrefoelas about 1793) and Elizabeth (Possibly Williams). Hoping someone can help with three Jones brick walls...but not really holding out much hope! LOL Lainee
My Brick wall is my great grand father, ALBERT JONES. the information I have is very sketchy. He was porn circa 1869 in the Bellmont community of Franklin County, New York. I believe his parents to be GEORGE JONES (1841 - ?) and JULIA MATEVIA, His siblings were MATELIDA, JOHN, CHARLES, and MARY. I have ittle information on his death. He died after 1940. He was a resident at th Franklin County Home and he was suffering frpm Parkinson deasese. He was married twice, his first wife was MARGARET (MAGGIE) DORA with whom he had MARGARET, NEDA, and ADELINE. His second wife was JOSEOHINE CRUMP. Any and all help would be greatly aooreciated because I have nothing. Thank you, Renee Stowe Thurmond ( rthurmond@sc.rr.com )
Mary, I would also like to have a copy of your Jones e-book. Janet Currie at mountie@charter.net I have been seeking the descendents of Richard and Amelia Hyatt Jones who were probably married in Brooke Co VA(WV) in late 1700's or early 1800s and disappeared from the Brooke Co census after 1810. My guess would be that they migrated into Ohio. . . probably Muskingum Co but I have no absolute proof of that. Many Thanks, Janet Currie
Mary Moeller <totallymine2004@gmail.com> wrote: those who have death years and states for their jones i can try to look up real quick ... while i am compiling the BIG book Mary, My William Jones (major brick wall) was said to have gone to New Orleans in about 1821 or 1822 and died there of yellow fever. I have been able to find nothing documenting his death, or anything else for that matter. He left his family in Miami County, OH when he went to New Orleans. Judging strictly by his wife's (Lucy Thompson) age, he probably would have been in his 40's or older at his death. She was born in 1784, so I'm figuring that he would have been at least as old as she was. I know this isn't much, but I have never been able to pin William down to the point of having hard birth or death dates. From the information I do have, he must have been quite a traveler. E-book request (David E. Cann) ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Sun, 7 Oct 2007 14:47:20 -0400 From: "David E. Cann" <decann@infionline.net> Subject: [JONES] E-book request To: "Jones List Posting" <jones@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <000301c80912$815df960$6401a8c0@decann> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" I would also appreciate receiving a copy of the Jones "e-book" when it is available. Please send it to the address in my sigline below. Strangely enough, my Jones ancestor was not only living during my lifetime, but is one of my major 17-year "brick walls." Following is her basic information: Name - Ida M. Jones (no idea what the "M." stands for) Birth - 19 Jan 1867 in Indiana Married - James Ernest Oliver in Marion County, Indiana Died - 1 Nov 1966 in Miami, Dade County, Florida I very recently discovered her parents' names, Henry Jones & Jennie Russell but I know absolutely nothing more about them than just that, no details whatsoever. I am hoping maybe this "Jones e-book" may shed some light on what has been a very frustrating search, but in the meantime if anyone else has even a small fragment of information on her or her parents, I would very much welcome hearing from you. Ida M. Jones was my g-grandmother, but my immediate family lost contact with her for a great many years. When I started working on the family genealogy 17 or 18 years ago I tried to find something on "my Jones line" at a time when I did not even know a birth surname for her. My wife and I still laugh about the time I discovered her maiden surname about two years ago, and the "shriek" I let out when I found it! Unfortunately, when I found it after all those years it was Jones, and given the number of Joneses in the world to look through, it only confirmed that "were it not for my bad luck I would not have any luck at all." And the search goes on. . . . . David E. Cann decann@infionline.net
