Pam: I came up with only two possiblilities if John Heath was in Michigan in 1880.. And one is if he married Olive Jones when he was 17, possibly 18. That one would be like this: Birch Run, Saginaw, Michigan. John Heath, farmer, 48, born NY, both parents born NY Catharine, wife, 41, born NY, father born VT, Mother born NY Sarah, dau, 21, born NY, both parents born NY John, son, 16, born Michigan Chilson, son, 14, born Michigan George, son, 10, born Michigan Charles, son, 9, born Michigan Lebbius, son, 7, born Michigan Eliza, son(?) 5, born Michigan Effie, dau, 3, born Michigan The other possibility is this one living in the household of Maggie Grisewold and family as a wood chopper. John Heath, 24, born Michigan, father and mother both born NY. They are in Lee, Allegan (?) County, Michigan. Bud

Three children Christopher J then aged 4, Edith M aged 3, Henry C aged 1. Are there any 'trade lists' that would offer info on french polishers ? Is there a site that offers information from a 1891 census ? anywhere else I could try while I wait for their marriage cert. All suggestions welcome...........this brick wall proving impregnable. Occasionally it is necessary for me to let everyone on the List know how to post, etc.; for the "old-timers" please be patient, we have new people coming to the List all the time and it's important to let them know how to most effectively post their queries. 1. All messages for the List are to be send to JONES-L@rootsweb.com. Sending your queries to jones-admin or jones-l-request will not get your message to the List; it will bounce to me and I will return it to you with a message to re-post to the List. 2. An effective query will contain: "Who, What, When & Where" // we are all researching Jones's and a message that says "searching for John Jones" isn't going to give enough information for anyone to help you. So, please give a name, general dates and locations. 3. Ditto for the subject line. Let's all please remember to change the subject line to something pertinent to your query with enough info so that someone who has no interest in your person, time or place will know before opening it. For those who don't know how to change the subject, after you click on Reply, just highlight the previous subject and either hit delete or backspace and then write your own subject line. For Everyone: Some subject lines are red-flags to ISP spamming filters: Help is one of them - please try to avoid using the word 'help' in your subject line. Also the word "free". Blank subject lines are equally frustrating and out of fear of viruses some people may delete messages with no subject or an ambiguous subject out-of-hand. 4. Quoting the previous message: Please delete all but what minimum is needed for clarification or to let someone know you are responding to their query from the previous messsge. Our Digest members will receive huge emails when all the the previous posting is left intact. And it takes up unncessary space on Rootsweb servers. Again, highlight the unnecessary text and hit delete or backspace. 5. Capitalization: In the world of mail-lists and the Net, typing in all caps is equivalent to SHOUTING at someone. Try not to do that unless there is an occasional word you'd really like to stress. If someone is having trouble with eye-sight, that's understandable; but most of us should not type in the all caps mode. 6. I think we have a wonderful list membership with polite, helpful people who are a great bunch of folks. But, for the record: please no flaming, spam, virus discussions, commercial messages, etc. And no non-Jones genealogy topic are permitted on the list. I thank all of you for being on the List ... Hi Nancy, It's me again. I saw your querie in "Jones". I have a great something grandmother, Eliza Ann Jones, of Tennessee --- that's why I'm on the Jones list. I checked Ancestry.com and found no entry for Anson Jones in the Mountain Democrat. They have no listings for 1898. Did I tell you I found Anson Jones registered to vote in Placer Co. in 1890. There is no Anson Jones in the listing of Placer Co. deaths prior to 1905. This doesn't mean he didn't die there, as this was from an unofficial copy. Also, there is no record of him buried in Placer Co. Cemeteries --- but not all cemeteries are listed and indexed. The US 1840 Census lists Anson Jones's in New Jersey, New York and Ohio. The US 1850 Census lists Andson Jones's in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, New York, Texas and Vermont. That is all I've been able to find for you. Sandy in Sacramento

He did not marry MY Olive..... He is the wrong John HEATH> God Bless Pam
Hard to say if this would be him. I had a lot of John Heath's just in MI. But was unable to look at them all, it takes forever just to load on image. If I could find something on a John F. HEATH in MI. that might be the one who married my Olive "Hattie" Adalade JONES. They were married on Oct 9, 1881 in Tuscola City, MI. That is what the people who do the marriage indexes for MI. told me. Since he drowned sometime shortly after that there has got to be some kind of obit or something on him. Olive remarried in 1885.. So that isn't too many years to look for. Just finding the obit might give me more information. But I have not had luck finding obit in newspapers. The ones I looked at were either difficult or only had some for certain states. Maybe someone will have something someday if I can't find anything. God Bless Pam
