    1. [Jones] MSAA - Rachel Rebecca JONES
    2. Dolores Pringle
    3. My MSAA (Most Sought After Ancestor) from the JONES line is the father &/or mother of Rachel Rebecca JONES, b. c1808, Spartanburg Dist., SC, d. 14 Aug 1896, Greenville Dist., SC, bur. Reedy River Baptist Church, Greenville Co., SC, beside her husband, Stephen Perry MARCHBANKS. It has been said many times that she was the dau of Samuel U. JONES and Bethia/Berthiah NATION. No one seems to be able to prove this at all, and I have had several folks tell me that it is absolutely wrong. I do know that there were 3 Samuel JONES in Spartanburg Dist., SC, in 1810 so it is possible that she was a dau. of another Samuel JONES. In the Clear Springs Bapt. Church records, there was a Francis JONES and a James JONES who were also members with their families at the same time that Rebecca and her daughter were members there. Could they be her brothers or other relative? There also was an Elkanah JONES in the Spartanburg Dist., SC, that I think may have been related to her. Rachel Rebecca JONES and Stephen Perry MARCHBANKS were the parents of 9 sons and 1 dau, names as follows, just in case they help tie into their mother's JONES line: Francis Marion MARCHBANKS - Samuel Stephen MARCHBANKS - could this son be named for her father Samuel JONES? Benjamin Gifford MARCHBANKS William Elkanah MARCHBANKS - could this son be named for Elkanah JONES? John Blackwell MARCHBANKS Joseph Turpin MARCHBANKS Mary Elizabeth MARCHBANKS Peter Caudle MARCHBANKS Ervin James MARCHBANKS - could this child be named for one of the JONES men ment. above? George Washington MARCHBANKS Thanks so much for reading; please contact me if you know anything at all abt. Rachel Rebecca JONES! God bless, Dolores M. Pringle

    1. [Jones] Jacob or James or John Jones born 1867
    2. Michael Johnson
    3. Looking for the ancestors of Jake Jones. His family is possibly from Surry County, North Carolina and is known to have lived in Carroll County, Virginia and Wise County, Virginia. According to the family bible, he was born on 8 May 1867. He married Bettie Barnda Bond on 18 December 1887. His name has several question marks: The family bible lists him as Jacob Brown Jones; on the marriage bond of his son Samuel he is listed as Drake Jones; in the 1910 Census for Wise County he is listed a James B. Jones; in the 1930 Census for Wise County he is listed as Jacob B. Jones; on the back of some old family photos he is listed as John Jones. In the 1910 Census, he states that he was born in Virginia and both his mother and father were also born in Virginia. His son Raymond is living next door and says he was born in Virginia and both his parents were also born in Virginia. In the 1920 Census, James/Jacob/John is not listed, but two of his sons are: Raymond and Sam. Raymond again says he was born in Virginia as were both his parents. Sam says he was born in Virginia while he says his father was born in North Carolina and mother in Virginia. In the 1930 Census, he is listed as Jacob B. Jones, age 62, a widower, born in Virginia, and living in the Lipps District of Wise County. Here he also says his parents were born in North Carolina I believe that both Raymond and Sam were born in Carroll County, Virginia, however, their sister Mamie, was born in Mt. Airy, Surry County, North Carolina according to her death notice. I believe the family went from the Carroll/Surry County area to Wise County in early 1910. Any help with the ancestry of this family would be much appreciated. Cheers, Michael

    2. I keep trying, but nobody knows my Most Wanted. Who: a JONES guy who went by "Charley" or "Charlie" ("ey" in 1910, "ie" in 1920).When: born 1882; census says in NC. Died before 1938. What: marriage bond? He married my grandmother (Alice Louisa Brady) in 1903 0r 1904, but I can't find a marriage license. They had 5 kids; 4 lived to adulthood. He was a "rambler"; deserted the family many times. (My grandma's family lived for generations in the Alamance-Rockingham-Guilford-Randolph area of NC; many are still there.) I have to consider that Charley/Charlie may not have been an only child; I'd be happy to find a sibling. he may have had a brother "Thurman". "Charlie" could have been a nickname for ANYthing. Only one pic of him ever taken; black hair and light eyes (gray? Hazel?).

    1. [Jones] Lewis M. Jones, 1842 -1918, TN to TX
    2. Dora Albrecht
    3. My most elusive Jones is my great gradfather, Lewis M. Jones (nicknamed Lige). Per 1900 census he says he was born 5/1842 in Tennessee. He "appears" in Fannin County, TX in 1870 where he marries Sophia Elizabeth Cummins, daughter of Elijah Washington Cummins and Lydia Green Oliver Cummins. Lige and Elizabeth had the following children: Elijah T. Jones, born 9/19/1871 in Fannin Co., TX, died 5/23/1932 in Cooke Co., TX Samuel Marion Jones, born 11/3/1875 in Grayson Co., TX, died 3/31/1953 in Oklahoma Co., OK. Maggie Jones, born 5/1883 in Grayson Co., TX, died 1918 in Montague Co., TX Robert Silas David Jones, born 1/9/1886 in Grayson Co., TX, died 6/4/1955 in Montague Co., TX (my line) Lewis M. Jones and Sophia died in probably the latter part of 1918. They are buried in Montague Cemetery, Montague Co., TX. Family oral history is that they, along with several other family members, died in the flu epidemic in 1918. I do not find death certificates. I am told by County Clerks that so many folks were dying in 1918 of the flu, that they were often buried without the deaths being registered. I have read the index to the 1850 and 1860 Tennessee census looking for a Jones that met Lige's age, etc, without success. So, who were Lige's parents? I would love suggestions as to where I should now search. And, I would really love to hear from anyone who has knowledge of this family. Blessings to all, Dorie

    1. [Jones] Wyatt Hawkins Jones, born 1822 NC
    2. I have seen data in this message board and other internet sources indicating Wyatt Hawkins Jones (born 1822) was the son of John Hawkins Jones (born 1787) and Mildred R. Mitchell. Other children are James Jones born 1801 who married Rebecca Coleman in 1819. Mary H. Jones born 1837, William Jones born 1839. I can't find anyone who can tell me where they got this info. Also, It seems more logical based on the dates of birth of the children that James was the son of John and Mildred and the others were the children of James and Rebecca. Wyatt Hawkins Jones is my great great grandfather. Among his 11 children were Mary, William, James, Wyatt......others were Lucy, Chalmers, Genatus, Susan, Hallie, Josephine, and Adrian Dale. The family settled in Marshall Co., MS. Any clues????? Sandra
