Where have you found the family on the censuses of 1900, 1910, 1920 etc.? These should give you an idea as to date and place of birth. Then you can go back to the 1880 census, which is online. Best wishes for success. ================================ email screened by Norton AntiVirus 2002 ================================ ----- Original Message ----- From: <LFelixthekat@aol.com> To: <JONES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2002 4:25 PM Subject: [Jones] WALTER COOPER > Hello,, I am in need of some help with this one. I am searching for the parents of Samuel H. Jones, born on 2 December 1787. According to Surry County, NC Census records for 1850 and 1860, he was born in South Carolina. He was married in Stokes County, NC to Elizabeth Wortman on 29 March 1809. He is listed in the Stokes County Census records for 1810 and the Surry County Census records for 1830-60. I believe, but cannot confirm, that his father is Daniel Jones. Would be born probably around 1760. There is a Daniel Jones located in Surry County from 1795 to 1802, but is not listed in 1790 Census for North Carolina. The following information (provided by Chris Jones) relates: May 1795 A deed from Edward Williams and Ann his wife, to Robert Walker was proved by affirmation of Daniel Jones and ordered to be recorded. November 1797 A deed from Samuel Ellis to Adam Coffin was proven by the affirmation of Daniel Jones and ordered to be registered. February 1798: A deed from Daniel Jones to Isham Welch was proved by the oath of Samuel Welch and ordered to be registered. Surry County, North Carolina Deed Book I, Page 529 Adam Coffin to Richard Jones both of Surry County, land on Hunting Creek containing 118 acres. Signed Adam Coffin, Wit: Francis Barnard and Daniel Jones. Recorded November Term 1802 (Daniel and Richard Jones and Adam Coffin were Quakers). Anything in the Quaker records on Daniel? There is a Daniel Jones listed in the 1790 Census for Pendleton County, SC (one male over 16, three females), but he is not found there in 1800. Samuel names his first son Daniel and second son William (after Elizabeth's father). Samuel's son, Silas, named his first son Daniel Stockton Jones. My wife descends from Silas' son Jacob. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Michael
Anyone have a Daniel Jones? He was married to Caroline Jones b.@1830 and also lived in SC.
Hello,, I am in need of some help with this one. I cannot find any information on my greatgrandfather WALTER A. COOPER. I got his place of birth off of my grandmother's birth certificate and it indicated he was born in Jackson, Tennessee. However there was no birthdate. His occupation was stated as a painter. He married ANNA LOUISE JONES. My grandmother (Mrytle) and her two sisters (Beatrice and Esther) were born between 1900 - 1911 in Massachusetts. (Springfield/Florence/Northampton, MA) (dont know if there were any additional children) Their mother was born in Northampton, MA but no date either. I have looked many hours on the census and cant seem to find anything. Can someone please help?

Locate on all census lists the Margaret Jones you seek. You will be able to get a fairly definite time and place of birth for her. With these very common names, be sure to list in your queries the dates and places of birth. [There are Margaret Joneses by the dozen. Some in my family date back to the early 1700s, and continue on to much later dates.] Many people might want to help you, but cannot know where to begin without dates to work with. ================================ email screened by Norton AntiVirus 2002 ================================ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carole Beth Arnette" <nautilus@ev1.net> To: <JONES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 19, 2002 12:08 PM Subject: [Jones] Family of Margaret Amanda, Mary, JONES, Livingston or Crittenden co, KY > Hello everyone: I am searching for the parents, family of Margaret Amanda JONES. I don't know if I am related or not, but I have been struggling with that problem for months. Let's try this on for size: Thomas Franklin Jones and John Litten/Letton Jones were brothers and each of them had a John Letton/Litton around the same time. I believe that the two records you have of the John Lettons are of father, John Letton, and one of the John Letton Jones, II's. Have I confused you enough...I know my head is spinning. Hello List, I thought I would forward this information to you all since I had a hard time finding it. Maybe it will be helpful to someone else. I finally found it on Genealogy.com under Rhonda's Tips. It's regarding the SS-5 form vs. Numident form from the SSDI. The SS-5, which currently costs $27.00, includes the following information Full name of applicant Place of residence (including street, city, and state) Name and address of employer Age of applicant Date and place of birth Name of parents (including maiden name of mother) Gender and color Signature The Numident does not have all of this information, but it does have some information that is not found on the original SS-5 and the cost is $16.00. Full name of applicant Date of birth State or country of birth Place of residence Employer Name changes for married women Address changes (if the individual moved)
the word. I looked up the word in the Merriam Webster on line dictionary. Wasn't there. Hello List, I have a question. What is a Numident Printout? This is a printout that you can get from the SSDI instead of the SS-5 application. Can anyone tell me what information comes on these Numident Printouts? They are only $16.00 compared to $29.00 for the SS-5, but do you still get the same information on them? If anyone has an answer, please let me hear from you. Thanks, Liz
Too bad that Thomas Jones Sr. is from TN. I am looking for a Thomas Jones b. about 1734 but from eastern VA or mayabe MD. Thanks for the infor. betty
Hi. How was your trip for the family reunion. That must be fun. I went to Maine for my son's wedding. It was great. They just got back from their honeymoon. They went to London, Paris Germany and Austria. They had torrential rains everywhere but Austria. Bob went to school in Salzburg and was happy to go back. Hope you had fun. I was just going through my old mail and came across your message.
