Pat, Thank you for the information on James Clayborn Jones. I am not for sure what relation he is to my Elijah Luster Jones but my Great Uncle and Great Aunt have just mentioned him to me recently. The Jones line has been a brick wall of mine for a very long time. I was thinking if I started with Claib Jones and come down the tree then maybe I might see a familiar name, County, etc. I think I am remembering that he was an Uncle or something to that effect, so I think I would have to start with John Jones and Rebecca Arnold. About this time in my search I am pretty much willing to study any one's Jones line. Thank you all for taking the time to do the Roll call. I was told recently by my Great Aunt Jewell Jones that the Letcher County Historical Society had a book on Claib Jones. Would any happen to know how to get this book? Sandra Jones Michigan Honegwmom@aol.com wrote:Sandra James Claybourn Jones was born in Floyd County on the Arnold Fork of Beaver Creek, 14 February 1826. My father John Jones was born and reared in Hawkins County Tennessee, coming to Floyd County when he was about 20 years old, marrying my mother , Miss Rebecca Arnold, who was born in Tazwell, Va. Shortly after I was born my parents moved down Beaver about fifteen miles and settled on a small creek, named Jones's Fork, in honor of my father, who was one of the pioneer settlers in that section. This is from the "autobiography of OLD CLAIB JONES. Claib is buried here in Hazard. I know very little of my paternal grandparents. They were George Jones and Hannah Barnard. George was born in PA, do not have a date. They were married in Iowa in 1886 and it is a hand written document and George could be 20 or 28. The document says that George's parents are Edw Jones and Sarah Stansbury or Stansburg. This is about all I know, except for George and Hannah's family. Dorothy

I unfortunetly, do not know alot about my Jones family. Elijah? "Luster" Jones was born appr. 1871 in Elliot County, Ky. He married Anna Jane Cox. This couple had the children: Luther, Fred, Arlie, Nan, Lauria, Gardie, and Claud and all can be found on the 1910-1930 Perry County, Kentucky Census. His son Luther Henry Jones was born on 4/2/1892 in West Liberty, Morgan County, Kentucky and he married Emma Francis Cox b 12/23/1892 in West Liberty, Morgan County, Ky. They had the children: Orbie, Ollie (my grandfather), Odis, Elsie Dean, Ray Asbel, Ova, Warren, Forrest, Catherine, Jewell, James Omer, and Raymond. This family can also be found on the 1910-1930 Perry County, Ky Census. I was told recently that Elijah "Luster" Jones was related to Claib Jones out of Letcher County, Ky. Claib was born James Claiborn Jones from my understanding but I do not know the exact relation. He was a Lawman and feudest. Does any one have a family tree on this Claib Jones? I have looked but I am not finding any thing online that might be able to help. Thanks, Sandra --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now

John Jones Born London England, circa 1810. He first spent 2yrs 10mths as a child on the prison hulk 'EURYALUS' and after his release he stayed free until he reached the age of 18yrs, He was then arrested for picking pockets, his convict indent reads as follows. No 112 Jones John, Age 18yrs. He arrived aboard the convict boat ' MORLEY' (also another John Jones on board but we have confirmed ours). He received his ticket of freedom on the 18 Jul 1836. On the 10 Nov of that year he went to the Female Factory at Parramatta, and out of the line up of convict women he picked himself a wife, the girl he picked was a 20yr old Elizabeth Waters. Marriage Bann No 398, Married at St Johns C/E Parramatta on the 12 Dec 1838, They appeared to have stayed at Parramatta till at least 1845 before John took on the position as a drayman at ' Eurominda ' station on the Macquarie River near Wellington NSW. Some of the children of this marriage are: Elizabeth 1846: William B 1847: Henry B 1848: Mary 1854: Napoleon 1856 I am still trying to trace earlier children but I am having to use on online records and the generous assistance from people to confirm them and I do not like to abuse this generosity. If anyone has access to the records for the EURYALUS & MORLEY I would appreciate details of any information recorded for my man. Searching for any info on the Jones families of Greenville Co., SC, in the 1790s- early1800s. My ancestor was named John A. Jones and I am trying to connect him to a family in Greenville Co. His father may have been named William M. Jones. Census records regarding John A. Jones are confusing. Some say he was born in PA, others say in SC. I think it is safe to assume that the family went from PA to SC. John A. bought land in Madison Co., Mississippi Territory (AL) @ 1810-13, and the land records say he was from Greenville Co., SC. Many thanks for any help, J Brown

I have the name in a file. I would like to know if there are any of this couples relatives anywhere. The only other JONES line I have on them is a cousin to Elizabeth someway: Thomas Jones and his son's Robert/John L. JONES. Robert and his son, Robert JR. went to Denver for mining. John L. Jones served in the civil war, was a prosecuting att in Jackson Co OH, may have married?, was an alcoholic. I do have Thomas living on the GRIFFITHS farm during at least one taking of a census. This JONES family was also connected to a well known Welsh singer: Prof James W. Sauvage of Rhosllanerchrug. (I can't believe I spelled that one) Any takers on this family. ~pat(entwistle/gethen/hershberger)griffiths/jones~
