    3. Hello: This is any relation to John Benton Jones that was born in Virginia around 1831? He married Catherine Webb. I know nothing about his family. Does this sound familiar? nancy4@cottoninternet.net ----- Original Message ----- From: <DNESEY@aol.com> To: <JONES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 30, 2002 9:56 PM Subject: [Jones] Fleming Jones of Kentucky > Fleming Jones > Barren Kentucky > Born 1810 VA > Died 1862 TX > > > ==== JONES Mailing List ==== > Direct your questions, comments or problems to the listowner at jones-admin@rootsweb.com > For detailed instructions on subscribing and unsubscribing visit this site: > http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/j/jones.html > browse the archives: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/jones > search the archives: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=JONES > Unusual JONES given names, http://members.aol.com/stjones/jones/oddnames.html > >

    1. [Jones] CALVIN V and ORPHEUS JONES....NC 1900's
    2. OK, I found my elusive "grandpa Charlie" (Charlie M Jones of Chatham and Alamance, NC) and a BONUS... in the 1900 census, Charlie has TWO BROTHERS which nobody in the family ever heard of! CALVIN's middle name may have been Vestal; born Feb 1884. Orpheus, born Apr 1890, may have used his middle name (wouldn't YOU, if your name were ORPHEUS?) but since I have no idea what his middle name was, I don't have a clue as to how to locate him. Calvin may have moved to Mecklenburg County from Alamance. Calvin V, Charlie M, and Orpheus were the children of Wm. Heflin Jones (called Heflin) and Ora V Copeland (called Pinkey), and all the guys worked in the cotton mill. Heflin remarried to Martha Brown after Ora's death.Anyone here know this family or.... hopefully.... know what became of CALVIN and ORPHEUS? Nancy Jones

    1. [Jones] Blair Jones of Pell City, AL:
    2. W. Chris Jones
    3. Can someone tell me if Blair Jones of Pell City, AL wrote a book on the Hardy Jones family of NC? Blair was apparently a son of Hardy III Jones and was in touch with Mamie Elizabeth Gaskell McCubbins. She was the wife of a circuit judge in North Carolina in the late 1800s and early 1900s. She had a passion for genealogical research, and as she traveled with her husband on his rounds, she would research families and North Carolina history in the courthouses and communities she visited and did surname cataloging in the Rowan Public Library in Salisbury, NC. Thanks. Chris Jones Roswell, GA

    2. Sandra James Claybourn Jones was born in Floyd County on the Arnold Fork of Beaver Creek, 14 February 1826. My father John Jones was born and reared in Hawkins County Tennessee, coming to Floyd County when he was about 20 years old, marrying my mother , Miss Rebecca Arnold, who was born in Tazwell, Va. Shortly after I was born my parents moved down Beaver about fifteen miles and settled on a small creek, named Jones's Fork, in honor of my father, who was one of the pioneer settlers in that section. This is from the "autobiography of OLD CLAIB JONES. Claib is buried here in Hazard. Pat Horne
