    3. My grandfather David Madison Jones b 1857 was killed while on horse back. This was in Amory, Ms But I don't think he or his Dad Richard C Jones jr b 1821 in Tn or his dad Richard C Jones Sr b 1767 NC ever stole a horse. The union soldiers stole one of R C Jones Jr's prize mares, or they borrowed it, at any rate the tax payers paid for the horse and other items they took also. I have a copy of the claim and settelment. Richard Jr received from the government the amount of $ 299.99 in settelment in 1872. I am a Jones and proud to be one. But it was not Jones, the James boys did stealing horses from Jones and Graves in Kansas or possiblity in Missouri. 3. Years ago when I was trying to locate information on my great grandfather, I ran across a Leander Jones who was a Mayflower descendent. He fought in the Revolutionary War. Now I don't know when they came over. The descendents, if any of Christopher Jones who came over on the Mayflower are unknown, but given how few white people there were, the later ones ended up intermarrying with the earliest ones. You might try and look at the passenger lists of the early ships that came here in the 1600's. Sounds like the old (and false) three brothers story. Kathi Jones-Hudson JONES Listowner ******************************************************************** I think this story is a very common one with ALL names. The story is that the Overstreet family started from 3 brothers, interestingly enough so did the Heck family and now the Jones family. 3. Hello: Do you know if there was a John Benton Jones in the family? My John Benton Jones married Catherine Webb around 1852 and I know they had at least one daughter by the name of Mary Etta Jones that was born around 1870's. I do not know John's father or mother's name. Does any of this sound familiar. Catherine Webb was from Shenadoah Co. Virginia and I think they were married in this county. Catherine Webb is buried in Shenadoah Co. Virginia in 1880. John Benton Jones lived in Indian Territory in 1900 from the census (Oklahoma). My mom is the descendant to Clyde Washington Jones, Mary E. Jones son. my e-mail is nancy4@cottoninternet.net . I look forward to hearing from you. 1. [Jones] Jame Jones & Mary Glass
    2. Hi List: Jame Jones married Mary Elizabeth Glass on 10/26/1837 in St Clair Co, Illinois (have marriage license). One son Theo (Theophilus or Theophyllus) born in Grant County Wisconsin Feb 16, 1840. Theo moved to Kane, married Mida King daughter of Captain Lucian King. They were my great-grandparents. James and Mary divorced and she remarried Jeremiah Cox July 13, 1845. Theo lived with his mother and then her sister in Alton when he attended Shurtleff College. I have a lot of concrete information on descendants but absolutely nothing but speculation on James and Mary. James may have been born in Kentucky and may have moved to Nebraska after the divorce. She remarried and had more children. Her parents were James Glass and Mary Truscott (not a hard fact but hearsay) Thanks for any help..... Sporadically researching: Jones, Wilkinson, King, Ogle, Davenport, Owens.
