I am searching for any information on this family from Mississippi. This includes about all I know about them. My grandfather passed before I was old enough to realize that I did not know anything about his family history. Now, I find out that no one else in the family knows much more than I do. I found this today in an old family Bible. It was cut from a newspaper but did not have the name of the paper on the clipping. I am searching for any information on this family. They are my grandfather's family and this is about all I have on them. My grandfather passed before I was old enough to realize that I knew nothing about his family. Now I find that no one knows any more than I do about them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Brenda in NC "Rites At Mathiston For Mrs. Jones" "Mathiston-MS. Hullo, I am looking for any possible decendents of SAMUEL FRANCIS JONES born Cobh 1905, and his brother WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER JONES born 1901, same place. They were two children of Mary Anne Jones (Roche). Mary Anne was a sister to my Grandmother Margaret Ahern (Roche). I have been told that both brothers immigrated to Australia after living in England for a few years. Their father was Samuel Jones, a Signalman in the British navy, stationed in Cobh, died there in 1908. Is anyone familar with the availability of Australian immigration/ships lists, sources, indexes etc? Thank you, Colman Ahern, Berkeley.

I am searching for any information on a Cornelius (possibly Cornelious) Jones b. abt 1705? married to Elizabeth Taylor in Eastern NC/VA in early 1700s. Father and Mother may have been a Richard Jones and Rachel Cornelius (or Cornelious), b abt 1670. I believe there was some relationship between this family and the Lewis family of Surry County. There is also an Elizabeth (Jones) Taylor [married to a Thomas Taylor (b1670) with a daughter Elizabeth] about this time/place whose mother was a Sarah Rebecca Lewis (married to a James Jones who was b. abt 1650). RESEARCH GOAL: I am trying to determine if there is a documentable link between these families and a Lewis Taylor Jones, born in 1779 and living later in Williamson County TN. I have seen some information that this Lewis Taylor Jones' father may have also been a Taylor Jones, possibly a son of the Cornelius Jones above. Any help on this puzzle would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to find information on the parents of Aaron Jones who was born in Saginaw Michigan on June 25, 1860. Unfortunately, Michigan did not keep bmd records until 1867. I know his birth date from his obituary and from marriage records (neither of which mention his parents). He married on February 7, 1886 in Taymouth Township, Saginaw County to Margaret Lawhead. Aaron died on June 8, 1933 in Taymouth Township, Saginaw County Michigan. According to his obituary, he had a brother Frank Jones and a sister Mrs. Elizabeth Showers both of Saginaw, Michigan. He also had a daughter - Mrs. Elmer Knight of Jackson Michigan - unfortunately, this is all that I know for sure of her. I am also seeking descendants of this daughter. I have been able to definitively find Aaron Jones in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 census information for Saginaw County - this is after he's married with a family. Unfortunately, I haven't found him definitively yet prior to 1910 in the Census, but I have no reason to believe he was anyplace other than Saginaw County (his obituary confirms my theory stating he had lived more than 50 of his 72 years in Taymouth Township). Aaron and Margaret's other children include: Jessie (married Jasper Roy Snider), Rhonda (who married a man with the last name of Reikowsky), Roy R. (married Gladys Neeley), Ola May (possibly married Elmer Knight, but unknown for sure), Archie (married Beatrice Marsh), Herbert (married Gladys Neeley), Oscar E (married Margaret Zirkle), Thurlo E. (married Genevieve Baker), Marie Irene (married Raymond Hickmott), and Laverne (married June Reed). I am a granddaughter of Marie and Raymond. Nancy Rivers
Sad sad! We have a different Abraham Jones. thanks anyway. Betty
Mary Alice, Cornelius is in Colerain twp, Ross Co, OH in the 1850 census. There are two Corneliuses in the 1840 census for Green twp, Ross Co, one of which is in the right age range, so I think this is the right one. He died in 1858, before the 1860 census. In 1850 there are 10 Moses Jones in Ohio but none in Ross Co., so he may have died. There is a Moses Jones in Green twp, Ross Co in 1840. In 1830 Moses is in Green twp, Ross Co. In 1820 he is in Colerain Twp., Ross Co. No census for Ohio in 1810. No state of Ohio yet, I guess. There is a Moses Jones in Hampshire Co, VA. I'll have to check his age range in each of these censuses to see if they agree with each other. Too bad family members weren't listed in all of those earlier censuses. Schuyler and Nancy (Lyons) JONES had the following children: 1. Maude Edith, born 1879, Newton Co; married Archie VONDERSMITH. (my ancestors) 2. Dora A., born 1886, (Newton Co?); married Wilson S. PARKS; children: Wilson, Jr. and William. 3. Ida (M), born 1888, (Newton Co?); married L. W. SELCH; children? 4. Ralph, born 1893, (Newton Co?); married Fern WEST; children: Donald, Margaret. 5. Russell, born 1896, (Newton Co?) married ("Minnie" Pearl MIDDLETON?). I cannot find L. W. & Ida SELCH anywhere in the 1920 or 1930 census records. "Mrs. L. W. Selch" was mentioned in Schuyler's 1923 obituary. Russell's wife died between 1923 and 1930. Did he remarry? I would appreciate any information on Dora, Ida, Ralph or Russell and their descendants. My g,g,g-grandfather was Cornelius JONES. He was born in 1810, probably in Ross Co, Ohio. He died in 1858 in Newton Co, Indiana. I believe his father might have been Moses JONES of Ross Co, Ohio. I saw a summary of a will for Peter JONES who died in Hampshire Co, VA (later West VA) who had a son Moses. Since there was a large migration from Hampshire Co, VA to Ross Co, OH, I'm thinking this might be the same Moses JONES. Does anyone have any information on this line? Marcy, Try the early census records for Lawrence County, OH and Washington County. I have been researching that area for 1860 and 1870. I do remember seeing the name Cornelius Jones. It struck a bell with me because I knew a man by that name when I was a child in Springfield (his daughter was a friend of mine in the 1940's) and I wondered if he was a descendant of the man on the census record. The first name is not a very common name. Mary Alice.
My greatgreatgrandfather, John Wiley Jones died in 1935, I think, in Centerline, MI at the home of one of his children. He was buried near his home in Paducah, KY. His father, Wiley Jones, was born in central TN around 1815 and had migrated to the IL/IN border where they lived in Golconda, Pope Co., IL by 1850. Wiley B.H. Jones served in the Civil War and was back on the Pope Co., IL census for 1870. His brother Columbus Jones, moved out to OK by way of KS where the rest of his siblings followed for a brief while in early years before heading back east to KY and other points. I have pictures of many members of this family if you are interested. I need help in finding the parents of Arthur Ross Jones...He was born in SC, York District, in 1826...His father was born in VA, his mother was born in SC. Arthur was married twice, the last time to Eliza Ann Hill, who was born in NC in 1840...I think his first wife was Enida Williams... The 1880 census shows him in AL., Jefferson County, with 3 older boys at home, Thomas, 28, Benjamin, 26, and Japhed, 24...Then came William, 11, Lucy,9, Nancy, 7, James, 5,(My Grandfather) and Arthur, age 2...Arthur Ross gave his occupation as a Miller... There were a couple of children after the 1880 census, Luke and Sharpe...If there is anyone in SC who could find out who Arthur Ross Jones's parents were I would be so grateful...I have had many headaches over this...Thanks, one and all...Lee
I am looking for the siblings of Calvin Sneed Baker Jones. Parents James Jones and Naomi Baker, of Orange/Chatham County, NC. They may have been originally from VA. Cal is my GGgrandpa, born 1822 in Chatham NC; died 1866. Also hoping to find more info on his parents. Nancy Dale Jones
I'm looking for the parents of my gr-gr-grandfather, Charles Alexander Jones (1817-1900). On the certificate for his second marriage in 1867, he listed his parents' names as Charles and Mary Jones, giving their place of birth as Allegheny County, Virginia, although it wasn't formed until 1819. I know nothing else about them. It's possible that Charles Alexander Jones had two brothers, John A and Oliver L, and a sister, Frances Ann.
