He was born in New York,1827, and his first wife's name was Testamony, thier first child Vienna, was born in PA. 1852. They moved to Ia. Co. Ia (1860 census) had 2 sons John and Orley, in 1870 census shows Ephriam with sons and 3 daughters, Susan, Adeline and Eliza. In aug Ephriam married Mary VanEgle. she died some time before 1875 when Ephriam married my g grandmother Eliza Jane Holden. They migrated to Silver Lake, Adams Co. Nebradka (1880 census and birth records of my great uncles then to Ericson, Wheeler Co. NE. where my grandfather Burt Jones was born. there were 7 children born to this marriage. Ephriam Peter Jones died April 1901. 3. Fellow list member's Just in case anyone is interested in this lady "Sallie Jones".....Could she be yours? I'd love to find her home! This file was sent to me in hope's that she was in my line. I believe she's not directly, only that she's in my husb.'s line. Deb 2. JOHN2 BAILEY (JAMES1) was born February 06, 1789 in Virginia, and died March 23, 1853 in Lane County, Oregon. He married "SALLIE JONES" September 04, 1811 in Clay County, Kentucky, daughter of ISAAC JONES and RHODA SMITH. She was born 1793 in Kentucky, and died 1826 in Kentucky. Notes for "SALLIE JONES": In the 1830 census it appears there is a woman age 30-40 living in the house with John. That is either Sally still alive or John has remarried since her death in 1826. This is something I will research at a later time... Children of JOHN BAILEY and "SALLIE JONES" are: 3. i. ISAAC3 BAILEY, b. 1813, Clay County, KY; d. 1894, Lane County, Oregon. 4. ii. JAMES BAILEY, b. 1815, Kentucky; d. 1880, Clay Co., Ky. 5. iii. BLACKGROVE H. BAILEY, b. January 20, 1815, Clay Co, KY; d. March 07, 1893, Lane County, Oregon. iv. THOMAS BAILEY, b. October 18, 1816, Clay Co, KY; d. December 12, 1870, Lane County, Oregon; m. EMILY F.; b. October 05, 1835; d. March 07, 1908. Notes for THOMAS BAILEY: (?)I am unsure about this sibling, as he is born in 1830(?). He may have a different mother than the others or perhaps Sally was still alive in 1830, as she appears to be listed in the Clay County census for 1830(?). 6. v. JOHN BAILEY, b. 1818, Clay County, KY; d. 1895, Lane County, Oregon. 7. vi. SAMUEL J. BAILEY, b. December 29, 1820, Clay Co, KY; d. December 16, 1902. vii. AMERICA BAILEY, b. 1821. Notes for AMERICA BAILEY: I am unsure of this sibling, this is something I have set here to research the facts at a later date. Samuel Bailey is living in a house with D.A. and America Walker in Clay County, KY census for 1850. I am speculating this is Samuel's sister. 8. viii. HOWLAND BAILEY, b. July 15, 1823, Clay County, KY; d. October 23, 1855, Cow Creek Canyon, OR. ix. EZEKIAL BAILEY, b. 1824, Clay Co, KY; m. NANCY WRIGHT, November 26, 1853. 9. x. ELIZABETH BAILEY, b. 1825, Kentucky; d. April 27, 1900. xi. JOSEPH BAILEY, b. 1829, Clay Co, KY; d. Abt. August 1861, Canby, Mondoc County, California; m. HARRIET LNU, November 21, 1851; b. 1823. Notes for JOSEPH BAILEY: I am unsure about this sibling, as he is born in 1829. He may have a different mother than the others or perhaps Sally was still alive in 1830, as she appears to be listed in the Clay County census for 1930. > ==== JONES Mailing List ==== > Direct your questions, comments or problems to the listowner at jones-admin@rootsweb.com > For detailed instructions on subscribing and unsubscribing visit this site: > http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/j/jones.html > browse the archives: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/jones > search the archives: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=JONES > Unusual JONES given names, http://members.aol.com/stjones/jones/oddnames.html >

    1. [Jones] My Jones family in the news....1979, Corda daughter of...Jasper Jones?
    2. This article has several mistakes, but is intriguing to me because of the lost family story. This gives Jasper as the name of my great grandmother's father. Lebanon (MO) Daily Record, Wed. Aug. 15, 1979 -- Page 1-B CORDA VERNON FETED BY BIRTHDAY PARTY "Mrs. Corda J. Vernon celebrated her 95th birthday Aug. 10, at the Lebanon Care Center, where she had been a resident about a week. Those in attendance were her sons, Claude and Don and her grandson, Bob, also her great-grandchildren, Julie and Mark Vernon (ME!) and Greg Lohrman. Mark and Greg came from Seattle, Wash. for the occasion. Friends and other relatives attending were Helen and Marilyn Vernon, Lloyd and Cleo Wester, Alma Stickler and Geneva Uder. Corda came (NO! Corda was born in 1884!!!) to Missouri with her parents MARY and JASPER JONES in an ox-drawn carriage during the Civil War. Jasper could not ride with his family because he was fleeing the south, where he had grown up, in Kentucky, to join the Union army. They settled in Danceyard, near Bennett Spring, and cleared a little land for farming purposes. They built a small house on the cleared land, then Jasper joined the Union and fought until the end of the war. Later the couple bought a farm in the Blackfoot School District, where Corda grew up. When she was 20 years old, she was married to Newt Vernon and remained in the Blackfoot area until Oct. 10, 1955. At this time, they built a new home near their son, Claude. She lived in her home or a private one, until moving to the center." It was actually a sad occasion, at least for me. Now I wish I could ask her about her mysterious family! -Mark

There is a William Jones in the following classes: 6, 30, 51, and 64. I am interested in the William Jones who was married to Jael Graves and resided in Culpeper Co. VA. Two of their daughters, Nancy and Sarah, married Hawkins men in the 1780's and 1790's. If any of this sounds familiar, please let me know. 3. Does anyone have information on John Jones age 55 b. MD 1850 Ohio census. Summit County, Copley Twnp. Roll M432_732 p.291. I believe that this John Jones is the brother of my 2nd great grandfather Samuel Jones b. MD also of Summit County, Copley Twnp. Also in this 1850 census, on the same page as John Jones b. MD is a younger John Jones b. OH who I know for a fact is the son of my 2nd great grandfather Samuel Jones b. MD By 1850 Samuel Jones b. MD had moved to Ft. Madison, Iowa, Lee County with the remaining unmarried children. It appears that his wife (according to my father, Samuel's wife was Catherine) had died, as she isn't in the 1850 Iowa census with the rest of the family. In the 1840 Ohio census there is an older female in the family who could have been the wife and mother Catherine. By 1850, Samuel Jones' oldest daughter, Mary, wife of Charles Kinch/Kench, had moved with her husband and family to Lineville, Wayne County, Iowa, Grand River Twnp. They later moved to Kansas.
