    2. evans-gunther
    3. Dear Listers, I know that looking for JONES family information is a bit like looking for a needle in a very big haystack but I haven't seen one Welsh JONES on the list. Are there no Welsh JONESes out there? I have at least four different JONES families on my family tree and all in the area of North Wales and Merseyside, but none in the United States as far I'm aware. I think I will have to unsubscribe. Best wishes from a Welshman in Japan, Charles

    3. Hi List My Samuel Jones was born in Grange, Antrim, 1833 according to LDS but most likely in 1838, going by the later information I found on his life, his father was Richard Jones, Soldier and mother's name was Ann McManus. He married Matilda Allan in Donegore, Antrim in 1858, and their five children were born in various parishes in Antrim. My ggrandmother Matilda was born in 1867, in Carrickfergus. I then find him in Glasgow, Scotland in 1881 and at various addresses in Glasgow until 1903, when he was admitted to Govan Combination Poorhouse, were he lived until his death in 1918. Information from archives states Sam was a Presbyterian widower in 1903 and was stated to be 80 years old when he died. Any Jones' out there with Irish or Scottish connections? Love to hear from you. regards Ava

    3. I just found a reference to a Patent transfer in 1717 that lists property owned by Arthur Jones on Folly Branch, Perquimans Precinct (pre-Gates County). In my line I have a Joseph Jones and Amelia Trevathan living in 1806 on property bordering Folly Branch. Does anyone have any information on Arthur or his descendants? Thanks in advance. Elton Jones

    3. Hi, I see that your father was named Joel JONES. Were there any other Joels in your family tree? I have been looking for one born in abt 1774 in NC who went to SC, GA and AL. He married two different ORR women that I know of, but believe there may have been an earlier wife also. Does any thing sound familiar??? 3. Rhonda, I also read that all came from Wales. It's a matter of how long they were in the US, who stayed and who did'nt possibly. I know my Wales roots have to go so far back that I won't find them for many years to come. I'm still looking for my 1800-1900's Jones'!! They also have to post a message as to whom your searching for, for anyone to know, Right? Half of us are so busy trying to find out who belong's to us that getting to the part of "from where do they descend" is another ball game. 3. Hello Charles, I am beginning to think all the Joneses suddenly materialized in about 1860. My great-grandfather is as far back as I can go. He is William Louis Jones, born in 1866 in Rockdale Ga, (according to information in his son's draft registration for WWI) but that is about all I can find on him. He moved (at some time ) to MS and married Emma Jester (she died in 1947 in Mathiston, MS) and had a houseful of kids but there seem to be no records on any of them. I sure wish I could find some Joneses in Mississippi who had a connection to these people. 3. Does your William Jones have a middle name? I know I have about 40 William Joneses in my Family line. I pulled up William Jones and found there are 30,000 under that name. So a middle name or initial "might" help. There are just to to many Joneses out there.
