To the Jones List Owner, or any one with the same problem: I'm unable to open any of the list attachments; can someone tell my why? Ive was able to in the past, but have not been able to for several digests now. I thought it was just a temporary problem. Hi This is also my first time on the Jones News Letter. I book that was written in 1957 on the Jones & Roberts Famiy. My wife is a descendant of Owen R Jones & wife Margaret who started this particular line. Owen R Jones was born Apr 27 1800 in Aberffraw, Isle of Angelsey, North Wales, wife Margaret birth place & death unknown. The decendants that came to the states lived in MN, IA, NE & KS. The couple that we received the book come from 2 different lines of Jones. The wifes family comes from the Kentucky Jones & the husbands family comes from the IA, NE, & KS Jones and buried in south east NE & north east Kansas. If this is of interest to you go to USGENET, Click on State of NE, Gage County NE., Cemeteries of Gage County, and Bethel Cemetery. There are a lot of Jones buried in Bethel. If you are related to any of them let me know as my wife is related to the biggest share of them. If you want to correspond with the lady who gave us the above mentioned book let me know. I do not! want to put her address on the Internet without her permission so please email me at williamgwinslow@kans.net . Hope there are some connections. Bill Winslow

Pat.. I found that I mistook the name of my great grandparent. It is Mary Virginia Graves who married to James Harvey Jones, not Abraham Jones. She was a daughter-in -law to Abraham ....She was a Mennoitte from Missouri....or possibility from Indiana. Let me know, Sorry , I emailed you the wrong names.... Hmmm very odd because I did not get the prompt nor see any Japanese. Like someone said, it probably has to do with Charles being in Japan perhaps his ISP routinely sends along a translator ?? The next time someone gets something like this can they please forward it in it's entirety to me at mdcat.geo@yahoo.com Kathi Jones-Hudson JONES Listowner __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Dear Listers, Interested to read the reactions to my message. I replied earlier but in my rush to get dinner I typed the address wrongly. I appreciate the problems of sorting out the JONESes from the JONESes, but one shouldn't take it for granted that because you have a surname JONES your ancestors are from Welsh. There is, of course, a good chance but I believe that the oldest example of JONES can be found in England. Anyway, good luck to everyone in the search for the needle. Best wishes from a Gog in Japan, Charles

Hello Jim. Sounds like your family never strayed too far from the old home steads. I am in Newport News, Va. Is your Laura Rawls kin to George Rawls, killed at Antietam in 1862? Do you know where the info on Simon and Mary comes from? I have had Rawls folk tell me the same thing, although the dates are new, but no one knows where it came from. If the stories about the Rawls boys hanging James Alfred are true, I'm surprised there's any mention of James at all. Know anything about that? Gonna let you go, gotta make coffee and turn the dog out. Let me know what else you might have about the Rawls and Joneses, please. Does anyone have any Jones-Perry connections? My Joneses and Perrys were in Chatham Co.NC by 1820, and I think the families had married each other even before my GGgrandfather Calvin Jones married Martha Perry.(One of Calvin's children married a Perry as well. Probably a second cousin; you know how it was....) If any Jones-Perry NC connections out there, would like to hear about them. Nancy Jones
Elton, in trying to locate any pre-1750 Joneses, I have been looking at a lot of different things; you had mentioned earlier that you had a Jones- Trevathan marriage in Gates. I have found another.... Nancy Jones married James Trevathan 1 Aug 1790 in Gates, with Lawrence Baker as witness and Henry Hill as bondsman. (I am also trying to track down Naomi Baker who married my James Jones Jr. from Gates.) I am sure there is a connection between these two Jones-Trevathan marriages...... I don't know if this will help either of us, but that's what I have. Nancy D Jones
Elton, I have my great Grandfather, Arthur Ross Jones, b. SC circa 1826, his father was born in NC according to 1880 census from AL. I have not been able to find the parents of Arthur Ross, it would be the answer to prayer if you could connect somehow...Lee
If anyone has Arkansas marriage records I need a look-up for WILLIAM A. or ALBERT W. and ANNA(IE) KIRKSEY. On 1880 census both are with their parents in Washington Co. Ark. On 1900 census they are in Franklin Co. Ark. with their children. Their first son was born in BOOTH, Scott Co. Ark abt. 1893/4 the next 3 in Ozark, Franklin Co. He died 1906 in Scott or Logan Co. Ark. or Leflore Co. Okla. Thank You for any help.
