    3. I don't know what part of "no more postings re: VA will bill" some people are not getting but I am very serious about this. Anyone who posts something about this topic again will be unsubscribed for a week. This includes anyone responding to such a post, even if they are in support of no more postings. I hope this is extremely clear to everyone. Additionally, I'm seeing some "attitude" on the List and it's not going to be tolerated. List rules include no flaming, no 'attitude', no politics, religion or spam. I do not want to be the 'list mommy' - everyone here is an adult and I expect them to behave as such. You may think you have no need of the VA records in question, but most of our families connect back to VA in numerous ways and the "brick walls" we all have may come down with a bit of info from that very set of documents that they are thinking of destroying. I would love to have as good a source of info in Mississippi, does anyone know of one. Or in Georgia also. 1. [Jones] Re: Jones List
    2. JEAN PAYTON
    3. Jones Listers, Rod and Kathi: Rod has apologized to me publicly and privately. I agree with him one hundred percent. Politics does not belong on any Genealogy list of any kind. I do want to make myself clear on this subject. I stand beside my President one hundred percent. I do not have to agree with his beliefs or thinking but since he is the man who is running this country I stand beside him and support him. I have two childrren in the military, a son in the U.S Air Force and a daughter in the U.S. Navy. My son has been called to active duty. I am a mother who is very proud of her children (I have 4 and 9 grandchildren) and what they do with their lives. I want to tell you about my son? His name is Kenneth, he is married and has four children 14,11, 21/2 yrs and 8 months. He is a critical care nurse. His wife is a maternity nurse. Since this man was born it was his dream to become a military person, He wanted to support his country, his president and the people of the United States. He was a very happy go lucky kid never had a bad temper always smiling. He was the teachers pet throughout his school years. When he was in his senior year of high school he wanted to join the Marines. My husband and I tried to tell him the marines were not for him but if that was what he wanted we supported him one hundred percent in his wishes. Well the day came when the Marines picked him up from our home and drove him downtown to the Marines enlistment center to show him around, this occurred about 5:00a.m. At seven a.m. my son called and asked us to come and get him. He realized the Marines weren't for him. Instead he joined the Air Force. On his 18th birthday I kissed and hugged my son good bye and the Air Force enlistment center and then watched him get on a plane for San Antonio, Texas. That was the hardest thing I have ever done watch my son leave home. For six weeks this young man underwent the rigors of being in the military. He was getting ready to graduate from basic. I drove from Michigan to San Antonio in 18 hours to be there when he graduated. My two brothers who lived in Texas were also there. My son graduated with honors from Boot camp. When I drove onto Lackland Air Force Base I heard this loud roar. It was my son and his unit hanging out the window of their dorm all welcoming his girlfiend and his parents on base. I cried and cried, I was so proud of him. He came home five months later and married his high school sweetheart. While he was fulfilling his tour they had two children, and when he finished his tour he decided to stay on the active reserve unit in Michigan. This young man worked two jobs, went to college and also did his active reserve duty. This young man has four children now and he has just recently bought a new home, has become a critical care nurse. He graduated from High School, Military and College all with honors while raising a family. He served in Africa for a short time, he served in Bosnia, and now he will be serving wherever he is needed, he isn't allowed to tell us where he is going but we all know where he is headed. My heart is breaking but I am a proud mother of an Air Force man! My daughter, Bethany is in the U.S. Navy as is her husband. They have two children. This little girl grew up to be a very beautiful young woman. When she started kindergarten and all through her elementary, junior high, senior high, College, Law School she never got anything less than an "A" on her school records. She obtained a full 4 yr scholarship to Wayne State University, a full 4 year scholarship to the DePaul School of Law in Illinois while working full time at two jobs also. I am very proud of my daughter and what she has accomplished. I am proud of her husband who has accomplished these same things as she has. I am proud of my Navy Woman! I have two more children who I am proud of also, one is an electrical contractor who got his contractors license and his master license all before he was 24 yrs old. He owns his own business and he has two children. I have my youngest daughter who is in law enforcement and works for the Federal Government. She has one daughter. To say I am proud of what my children have accomplished is an understatement. We all support our President irregardless whether we think he is right and or wrong. He is our President and I was raised to believe that he knows what he is doing. I don't have to agree with everything he does or does not do but as I said I am standing shoulder to shoulder with him. My only request to our President is that he take every precaution to protect my children, your children, husband, father, mothers, sisters, uncles and aunts. And believe me I have written to him my exact sentiments and I have asked that he protect all of us and that I would pray that he is doing the right thing and I also told him I am Proud to be an American. This is my last message discussing our President on this list. I hope you all understand where I am coming from. 3. What possible connection is there between Virginia making a stupid mistake about old documents and the crisis that the president is involved in. Do you think Osama and Saddam would preserve our historical documents -- or our lives for that matter. Stay on the subject and stop putting it on someone else's doorstep. Washington, District of Columbia, is not in Virginia and has little to do with state and local decisions like this one. -----Original Message----- From: nancy4 [mailto:nancy4@cottoninternet.net] Sent: Wednesday, February 12, 2003 3:08 PM To: JONES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Jones] VIRGINIA SENATE BILL DESTRUCTION OF WILL FILES Jean: I agree with you about the documents. 1. [Jones] Political Discussions on List: from Listowner - PLEASE READ
    2. Kathi Jones-Hudson
    3. To everyone: I want to make it exceedingly clear that there will be absolutely NO political discussions on this List. There are other avenues for folks who want to discuss the current crisis but this is not one of the those lists. We discuss Jones genealogy and/or issues pertinent to genealogy. Anyone who makes comments about the crisis, the President, impending war, etc. will be removed from the List immediately and will not be able to resubscribe until I can be assured that person will not make any further political statements/comments.
