My William Jones was b. 1850 in Conyerville, Tenn.. Moved with his family to Johnson Co., TX in 1853. We are pretty sure he is the William Julius Jones who died Nov. 1923 in Cisco, Eastland Co., TX. We can not actually prove this however. Do any of you have him in your database? Karli Dye

Nancy, I don't know where in NC Wyatt was born. The only way I know he was born in NC is that all the census I've found says he was. The posting I found was on a website by Sharon Terca. The website is www.gencircles.com/users/wildflower98/8/data/21263 If you can access that and see that it states John Hawkins Jones born abt 1787 and married Mildred Mitchell in Bourbon Co., KY in 1836. James Jones born about 1801, Wyatt Hawkins Jones born 1822, Mary H. Jones born abt 1837, William Jones born abt 1839. According to these dates Mildred must have been a second wife and why the great span of time between James and Wyatt? These names of Wyatt's siblings are all names of his children as well. I've seen the grave marker of Wyatt Hawkins Jones on private property in Marshall Co., MS on what use to be his home. The marker states he was born in 1822 as well as all the census I've seen. I have been searching Hawkins in hopes I could find a connection. Until I found this info above I could find nothing on parents or siblings of Wyatt but I would love to have something better that this to go on. Any help would be so appreciated. Sandra
Yes Janet, I have two Jones lines documented back to 1600's, unrelated (so far), however, both of these lines are from the New England area, not sure if you're looking to the VA area specifically. Ralph Jones 1625/1630 Of Barnstable, MA Wife Mary Fuller, 10 children all born in Barnstable, some dates not known for this generation. This line stayed primarily in the Barnstable/Plymouth MA area, although I have not followed it down very far as my family marries out of this line middle 1700's. Capt. Cornelius Jones, Mariner 1693 Of Dighton, Bristol, MA Wife Abigail, 11 children all born in Dighton. This line migrated first to Taunton MA, and then many settled in Maine after the Rev War. I have much info on this line as my grandmother's maiden name was Jones and this is her line. C. Sandra, where in NC were your Wyatt and James? I have a James Jones (doesn't everyone?) from Chowan-Gates-Chatham area. So far I have only found 2 of my James' children, Calvin and Archibald. Nancy
Joyce, Concerrning your Jones/Hawkins connection. There may not be a connection here but I have been trying desperately to find information on my great great grandfather, Wyatt Hawkins Jones, born 1822 in NC and settled and reared a family in Marshall Co., MS. I received some information that his father may have been John Hawkins Jones (from KY at one time) and a possible brother named James Jones. The info states that James was born in 1801 and that seems a little long between children to me especially when there were additional siblings (about 5) after Wyatt. My inclination is to believe James was his father and that John was the father of James. Wyatt named one of his sons James who was my great grandfather. I've not been able to get in touch with the person who posted that info in a message board about 3 years ago to find out where she got it. I said all of that just to ask you if you had any other Jones/Hawkins connections that may lead me somewhere with this. Still searching, Sandra
This is a great site, you can got to sites of newspapers all over the US. Kind of a Central location. Becky http://www.usnpl.com/

Joyce, that is a good idea but we might run into problems if we have a Jones who started in, say, Massachusetts and migrated to Alabama..... mine started in VA and migrated to Mass. and CA.!! Nancy
Is there a possibility in the future of dividing the Jones Lists into regions? There are so very many by this name. My particular Jones research is trying to find the people related to William Jones of Culpeper Co. Virginia who married Jael Graves of Virginia. Two of their daughters, Nancy and Sarah, married John and James Hawkins (sons of Matthew Hawkins Sr.) also of the Culpeper Co. area. It would certainly help with research if the Jones were divided into maybe North and South, or is this wrong. I belong to other lists doing research in the Philadelphia area: Irish in Philadelphia, Kensington (an area of Philly), etc. It does help. If anyone out there is related to William Jones and wife Jael Graves of Culpeper Co. VA, I'd love hearing from them. I need to find out William's parents, etc. There are 4 William Jones who are listed in Culpeper Co. records. Joyce Colleen Libes Muncie, IN
Does any one know a Thomas William Jones marry Amelia Heard Patterson 1774s in GA. I looking for anything that might let me know who her parents were. Janet
Nancy, I have a good bit of info on the family of Edmond (Edmund) Jones of Chatham County - b 1749 d 1834. I don't see a Matthew in his immediate family, but maybe we could compare notes offline. Hello all-- I am one of the lucky ones to have some "William Jones" ancestors! My GGGG-Grandfather was one of them, and I've gathered a lot of info on him: William Addison JONES (1803-1890) (born in Manhattan??) married Sarah TREEST (1809-1896) They lived in West Conesville, Schoharie Co., NY and had 8 children, all well-documented. Now, here's the new info I've been told, does anyone recognize this man? William JONES (1771-1807) born in Wales, a ship's carpenter, came to NY in 1783 with 3 brothers and a sister, not sure if his parents came along too. He married Rhoda SPRAGG, of Long Island, daughter of Epinetus Spragg. She was born in 1774. This is all I have....can anyone expand on this info? Thanks, Mary Hamburg, Berks Co., PA
