    1. [Jones] Abraham Jones and Eleanor Cooksey
    2. Hello, I am looking for any information for parents of Abraham Jones. Abraham was born abt. 1787 in Fauquier County, Virginia and his wife Eleanor Cooksey was born abt. 1788 in Fauquier County, Virginia. They were married February 9, 1828 in Fauquier County, Virginia. They then moved to Coshocton County, Ohio after that then migrated to Illinois somewhere. According to his sons civil war pension file they migrated to La Harpe, Illinois, I imagine they must have died there after 1860. Would like any help on this and to connect to any other Jones families, that would be connected to Abraham. jamie

JONES-L@rootweb.com for posting queries to the List and JONES-L-request@rootsweb.com for subscribing and unsubscribing (or JONES-D if you take the Digest version). As a reminder, all requests for unsubscribing, changing email address, etc. must go to the Rootsweb servers and not to the List. We have no 'change my email' command, to change email address for your subscription, you must unsubscribe while using the old address and subscribe using the new address. 2. Well, thanks , Elton! By 1850 my Joneses were definitely in Chatham, starting with Calvin Sneed Baker Jones, 1822-1866. He married Martha Moore Perry. (the Baker is his mother Naomi's maiden name. I'd love to find out who the Sneed was.). Calvin's father was James Jr., Born 1789, married Naomi Baker. I am not sure where he originated, nor his father James Sr.(born abt 1750) who married Sarah Johnson. James Sr's father MAY be John. That's all the info I have.I sure would enjoy having some new leads. I also suspect that the Joneses married Perrys BEFORE Calvin and Martha. Again, thanks! Nancy Jones

    2. Rachel Saunders
    3. Hello Listers! I am searching for information regarding the Jones branch of my family tree, but have been having great difficulty. My grandmother, Margaret Elizabeth Jones, was born in Camberwell, London, 25 Nov 1925. Her parents were John Jones, who worked as a 'Cartage Contractors Carman' and Margaret Elizabeth Nihill. I have been unable to find a marriage cerificate for these two, but believe they would have been born c. 1900, most probably in London. Margaret Elizabeth Jones went on to marry Leonard Henry Sadler in Southwark, London in 1945 and they had two children - Leonard John and Christine Ann. If anyone has a link I would be most grateful for any information. Thanks, Rachel Saunders _________________________________________________________________ Stay in touch with absent friends - get MSN Messenger http://messenger.msn.co.uk

    3. Last comment, I promise! Has anyone gone or subscribed to OneGreatFamily.com? You put your Tree on this website and if there are any members that have same family, you can merge any conflicts in dates, spelling of names, etc. I think it's a wonerful idea for the future gen. searcher's. Right now it's so new that there's really not alot of activity for my jones'. You can view everyone's trees also. They only formed last August. Back to the issue of whether or not the other family tree owner's are willing to merge info. and fix the conflicts, due to time consumption.........I'm done, Deb

    3. Listmembers: For the obvious reasons of the millions of Jones, I have put this section of researching off, but can do so no longer. I am searching for information on the parents of either of these two persons: Jesse Jones b.10-6-1824 in either IN or NC (different census records state both) he married on 4-25-1839 in Union County IN d. 1-9-1888 Owen county IN Sarah YOUNG b. 4-27-1825 in VA.d. 11-8-1912 Putnam county IN This couple is found in the Abington twp, Wayne Co, IN 1850 census and then later in the 1860 Putnam county IN census. They also resided in the Owen county IN area. Based on the 1830 census for Union county IN, I am finding that chances are the father of Jesse is William Jones and the father of Sarah is Elijah YOUNG. I have no iron clad proof of this except for a bit of circumstantial evidence such as their first two children were named Elijah and William. Also none of the other of their children's name matching any of the JONES or YOUNGS listed in the 1830 census. The other reasoning is that Elijah YOUNG and William JONES seem to be the two of those surnames that reside in the closest proximity to each other. Granted either of these reasons are pretty slim, but I am getting desperate in the search. My main problems of search is that in Owen county IN, there were (if you can believe it) 3 different Jesse JONES in the same time frame and all of them were married to a SARAH. All of their gravestones simply state: JESSE & SARAH no dates (consequently no help!!). There were a total of 11 children born to Jesse and Sarah. Elijah Jones b. 1840 Union/Wayne co. IN William Jones b. 2-19-1841 Union/Wayne co IN James Jones b. about 1846 (1850-4)Union/Wayne co IN Thomas Jefferson Jones b. 7-26-1847 Union/Wayne co IN Sampson Jones b. 8-11-1848 Union/Wayne co IN (this child disappears by the 1860 census) John B.P. Jones b. about 1853 (1860-7) most likely Putnam co IN Emily Jones b. about 1855(1860-5) most likely Putnam co IN Anderson Jones b. 3-13-1857 most likely Putnam co IN Jesse Jones b. 12-28-1862 most likely Putnam co IN Harrison Jones b. about 1867 (1880-13) Daniel Jones b. about 1867 (1880-13) The above two are shown as sons in the 1880 Jennings twp, Owen county census with Sarah. In this census Sarah states she was born in NC. I would be interested in exchanging info with anyone on this line. I would also be interested in any info on migrational routes coming from NC to the EASTERN counties of IN and then on to Owen/Putnam county as opposed to the more common migrations of down through KY and up as most did. Did their migrational route signify coming through Ohio?? Debbie Jennings
