Church of the Brethern are just that Brethren, they are Anabaptists. The anabaptists do not believe in infant baptism, but baptize as adults. There are three different sects, so to speak of anabaptists here in the U. S., the Brethren, Mennonite and Amish. Many of my Miller ancestors were Church of the Brethren. Nancy M. As I understand they are German Brethren. We have them here in this region. I can tell you Mennonite was the origin for Amish. The Amish broke away feeling that the Mennonite were becoming too liberal in their beliefs and practice. The Brethern have various orders as the Amish/Mennonite. What religous is Church of the Brethern ? Amish or Mennonite ???? Need to know ... Thanks, Joe
Hi List, My interests are the descendants of Henry JONES (born about 1822) in Morton Worcestershire, married Ann and in 1851 living in Aston, Warwick England, had these children: Louisa (1843) Emily (1845) Agnes (1845) married William FOX around (1875) Frederick (1850) Any information is appreciated. Sincerely, Lisa, Toronto
Odie Jones was born about 1892 in or around what is now Columbus, Georgia. Believe her father may have been named Henry. She married James H. Slaughter, also born in Georgia about 1888. They had a daughter Willie Mae. Rumor has it that James was a drunk. A mean drunk. A wife beater. Some where along the line, Odie had had enough and one night when he came home, she wrapped the sheet around him an beat him senseless with a piece of firewood. He lived long enough to tell her how sorry he was and within a week he died from his injuries. Nothing was ever done to Odie. Does anyone have any information about this couple or their family? Appreciate any help that I can get. Virginia ************************************* All mail scanned by Norton *************************************
Is your William J. Jones aka William James Jones? I'm looking for a William James Jones who would be my 3rd great grandfather b. MD. His son Samuel was b. 1794 MD. They both married wives b. PA and then Samuel (and I'm pretty sure of two brothers) moved on the Ohio in the early 1800's. The name Evanrod (from one of the Evans?) was also mentioned by my father as being an ancestrol given name. Julie Jones Beenblossom www.redoorfarms.com
Sorry, but I don't have anymore Jones information, other than what I already posted. I wish I did. Things are slowly falling into place, though. I'd like to keep in touch with the Jones in Laclede Co, Mo. I have a few old landscape pictures of the area, and not much else in the way of family documentation. We may very well be connected. We just don't have enough dots to make the connections. Melissa
Hi, Do you have any John W. Jones in your line I do know he was born Between 1850-1870 in MO, he married a Mary Freeman as far as I know she was born in Kansas prob. around the same years as John. John might have died bef. 1920. Where I do not know. Their son was Everett Wellington Jones born 1-31-1894-1898 in MO, (no one can really determine his year of birth the family Bible says 1898 but the according to his marriage record he would have been born around 1894, and then according to his death certificate he would been born around 1892. So I just don't know. He died 12-26-1935 in Omaha, NE. Is buried at The Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, NE. He married Hattie May Griffin. They had 3 children Robert, Thelma and Walter. Any connections? Hi Melissa, Thank you for your new lead! Of course I like to keep my eye out on any info concerning the Jones families of Laclede Co. My own William J. Jones is a tough nut to crack. -Mark
Hello. Just sending a small update on my Jones. My Anna Jones was married to a John Jones, and resided in Laclede County, MO during the 1880 census. Anna was born about 1861 in Missouri. John was born about 1856, also in Missouri Anna's maiden name is still unknown, but the census indicated that her mother and father may have been born in Tennessee. John's parents are also unknown, but his mother was born in Illinois, and his father was born in Kentucky. This is all according to census data, so it is not 100 % reliable. Just a new lead. Anna and John's daughters, Nellie Belle and possibly Etta, were also born near Lebanon, MO, after the 1880 census. Melissa
