I am seeking information of Sarah Jones or Jomes. She was born abt. 1814 at VA. She married Josiah Chamberlain, probably at Harrison co. W.VA. Sarah died on July 6, 1877 at Dixon Co. NE. Here is a list of children of Sarah and Josiah: James, born July 1832 Trephania, born 12 Feb 1833 George, born 21 Jan 1834 Robert, born 1839 Isaac, born 1846 Raymond, born 1838 Sophronia, born 1849 Fleming, born 1852 This is all I have. My email is cjbell@inebraska.com My name is Cathy
Yes, I tried his other names, looked for William and Bill Jones, Ed and Edward, Steve, Steven, Stephen, etc. He was shown on the 1880 and 1900 simply as Steve, so that's how I would expect to find him, but I did try the others. Does anyone know of an index to the 1910 census other than Genealogy.com? There, you have to wade through all the census years just to find the 1910's mixed in, unless there's another way to do it that I haven't learned. Ancestry.com has only the Miracode. Carol, have you tried finding Steve by using one of his other given names? My grandpa Jones had 3 given names & was never called by ANY of them, even in censuses, just his nickname..... hope your Steve is easier to find than my Charlie. Nancy
Pat, How very kind, thank you. However, I have previously looked at Cinch and didn't find anything that looked familiar. The one thing I would like to find out is if there are Cincinnati city directories for 1910-1911. My Steve Jones might have lived in the Lockland area where his mother lived for a while until she remarried. We think Steve died in 1911, but maybe he would be listed in a residential directory, if one exists. At least that would confirm that he was alive at the time of the directory. I well know how wintery it gets there in Cincinnati. It was beautiful here today, temperatures in the upper 80's, clear skies and light breezes. My husband and I retired here from Cincinnati back in 2000 and I do NOT miss the snow and ice! Hi, Well I WISHED I could find ALL My JONES families....... Also. I have exhausted all leads. I have a John W. Jones born in MO (Where)? He married Mary Freeman born in KS (Where)? They had a son named Everett Wellington Jones born 1-31-1898 according to the family bible, 1894 according to his age in the marriage record, and 1893 according to his death certificate, born in MO (Where)? He died 12-26-1935 in Omaha, NE. He married Hattie Mae Griffin born May 6, 1902 in Iowa, died in NM. I am needing to find some information on John and Mary Jones.... I have gotten Everett's Marriage/Death/Obit and nothing on where he was born in MO. I have also gotten his son My husband's dad's Social Security and Military Record and nothing on where Everett was born. I have not found anything on it showing where in MO they were born or lived. Is there anyone out there that does look-ups in MO? I have searched through each and every Census of MO, (taking me weeks to do) and nothing. So Where do I go Now?? Can ANYONE HELP find John and Mary Jones???? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks again, Sherry Jones http://www.skayjones.com feel free to have a look at my website, scroll down to MY FAMILY TREE link and click and follow the pages through...
I think mine were either in witness protection, or they fell in that blue hole. Patty

She married Thomas Jones born abt. 1789 SC. They were in AL[uknown counties], Newton, Covington, Franklin Counties, MS. I can follow her all the way to Wood County,TX 1880 and she still didn't leave me so much as a middle initial. ; ) Still hunting, Jackie H.
Hello listers, Goodness, I WISH we all had found ALL our Joneses!!! I, for one, am still trying to find info on my grandfather's brother, Steve Jones, actual given name William Edward Steven Jones, born in Laurel County, KY, in May 1879. Son of James Franklin and Margaret (Pigg) Jones, he was the fourth born of nine children plus one stillborn. I have traced all siblings except Steve. His granddaughter thought he died in 1911 in the Hamilton County, Ohio, area. Now we aren't so sure since we haven't located any info on him. It's possible he died in KY, but we have found nothing there either. Haven't even found him on the 1910 census. On the 1900 he is with his parents in Laurel County, but he married in 1901 to Lucinda Scarborough who gave birth to two boys, James and George Jones. Lucinda died in 1908 and is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, Rockcastle County, KY. Several of the Jones family drifted north to Hamilton and Clermont counties, others married and scattered in several dir! ections, most to eventually regroup in the Hamilton County area. If any of this rings a bell for anybody, please give me a holler. This is a big brick wall for me, and with the name Jones, it's a gigantic wall. I need help! Thanks much, Carol in Ocala, FL
Maybe the list is quiet because we ALL FOUND THE JONESES WE WERE LOOKING FOR???? I know I found some as the result of a posting for a Jones wife's maiden name. Still, if anyone knows any siblings for Calvin S. B. Jones of North Carolina, ( born between 1815 and 1830, parents James Jones and Sarah Johnson) I'd like to hear from you!
Good evening list, Everyone is shaking their Jones tree today, so here is mine in part. I am searching for the parents & siblings, if any for : OLIVER PERRY JONES b: 14 may 1840 in Pike Co, Indiana. (1880 census has Oliver born in Virginia = enumerator error) I have a copy of OLIVER'S military papers that show: (He called the civil war the "WAR OF THE REBELLION") :>)) 22 July 1862 mustered as a private in Company "A"100th Regiment Illinois Volunteers. 08 Aug 1864 transferred as Corporal to Company "K" 1st U.S. Engineer Corps. 30 June 1865 Honorable discharge at Nashville ,TN. 23 Aug 1866 in Naperville, Du Page County, Ill (directly west of Chicago) Married Catherine Elizabeth Hood b: Nov 1848 Saratoga, N.Y.("Katie" he called her) 1880 census for Crystal, Tama County, Iowa lists Oliver, his wife Catherine , and five children, one of them being my grandfather: Joseph Harrison Jones. (Oliver's father born Virginia, mother born S. Carolina) (Catherine's father & mother both born in NY) (children all born in Iowa) .......Indiana, Illinois, Iowa...he is slowly edging west. Family story has him coming to California in 1887 on a real estate promotional train ( I suppose he was with his wife and children) Oliver's children were born : CARRIE R JONES 04 JULY 1868 ROBERT F JONES 01 NOV 1869 MAMIE M. JONES 07 OCT 1872 JOSEPH HARRISON 16 DEC 1875 ? ETTIE JONES JULY 1878( died at 13 yrs?about 1891) 1900 census for Kern county, CA (Dist #5 Enum dist #33 pg. 6) lists Oliver, his wife Catherine and only Joseph. (JOSEPH HARRISON JONES married my grandmother LOURENA ALICE WILKINSON in Maricopa, Kern County, CA 1904) Oliver was a physician, (assisted in my grandfather Joseph's children's birthing). Oliver was horticulturist/nurseryman, real estate investor in Santa Ana, California. He played the violin well. Oliver received his service disability pension from 19 May 1910 through to his death 12 Aug 1912. Oliver was buried Fairhaven Cemetery, Santa Ana, Orange County, CA. Well that was more than I thought I had, but now, I would like to tie this family ancestors and descendants together. Related descendant surnames: ATSATT,SMITH, JONES, DIMICK, NOBLE, EISLAND Any information or suggestions are welcome. Margaret (mema)

Hi Lisa, Thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only one that didn't receive the list. Wonder what the problem is? If you find out would you please let me know? If I find out, I'll let you know. Judy in VA
Hi Judy, I didn't receive any either. Lisa in VA Lisa
Hi Kathi, Thank you for the information about going to Password Central at Rootsweb. I have not received even one message from the list in the last four or five days. Usually I receive quite a number of messages each day. So not knowing any other way to get back on the list, I subscribed again. Has anyone else had a problem receiving their messages? Or am I the one that has some kind of technical problem? Thank you, Judy in VA
There's nothing wrong with the List, it's just very quiet right now. Not only on this List, but on several that I subscribe to as well. We always go through periods of time when it gets remarkably quiet. That's when it's a good time to visit Password Central, and if you lose the link just go to Rootsweb front page (www.rootsweb.com) and you'll find Password Central in the middle column part way down the page. In the left column under "Mail Lists" you'll find a link to the Threaded Archives. This is another good place to go to see what is happening on a List. Also good for checking older messages. The most current month/year is at the bottom of the page for each list. Kathi Jones-Hudson JONES Listowner __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
