August 23, 2005 Tuesday afternoon I am looking for any information that will help me in my search to establish the birthplace of my 2nd great-grandfather Jefferson Jones, b. Jun 11, 1812 in Cumberland. He married Isabella Henderson, b. Dec 16, 1820, of Guilford County, North Carolina. At some point, Jefferson moved to Guilford County, NC where he and Isabella were married and lived out their lives. On the birth certificate of Jefferson's son, David Hudson Jones, born in Guilford County, Jefferson indicated he was born in Cumberland. However, there is no reference to which Cumberland he might have possibly been born. It is from an accumulation of information about his descendants that I am now speculating he was born in Cumberland County, Virginia rather than Cumberland County, NC. Any information you might offer will be humbly appreciated. Thanks sincerely, Richard Weston Jones
Am looking for anyone with insight to this family. Both John Jones and Thomas Jones were bondsmen for the marriage of Thomas Jones to Francis Queen on July 25 1861 in Tippah Co., MS. I do not know whether John Jones is Thomas brother or father. Thomas was born in NC and I assume John was also. However, they must have been living in MS in 1861. Can't find them on the 1860 census. I am open to anyone with any help Thanks Wendy P
My Jones are taken from the book "the quest for Peace" I have found mistakes in the book for one of my other lines, so this is not positive. I am just starting out in researching this line, so any help and advise will be greatly appreciated. Richard Jones born in Kentucky in 1791 Married Margaret Jenkins in Kentucky their Children: Mary Ann 1817 (?) In TN married Fields B. Jacaway Anna 1819 (?) TN James Gillespie 1821 TN I think RichardÂ’s Father was Leonard Jones born abt 1757 in Tenn. "You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him." James D. Hurray for you Shelly, Although I have a JONES line connected to BUTLERS with a few BRAYS mixed in, I don't recall any of them coming from Clover Creek, ID. Mine were creeping in from Georgia, Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. I have "rescued" several items, old photos and even a war ID bracelet hoping to find a "home" for them instead of being stuck on a box on the floor of an antique shop or someone's attic or basement. Yeah for you. Hope you find a home for your autograph book, that would be a great find...wish they were mine! Pat
Looking for info on Alfred L. Jones was in Claiborne Parish La. 1880 census.

Hi List, I am trying to find the exact death date for Cecil Clifford Laird JONES who died in Memphis, TN. All I have for a date is Aug, 1984. I am wanting to order his death cert. as well as find an obit. Without the day of the month, that would be difficult, especially for the obit. The info for death date and place was taken from the SSDI. He was born in Arkansas, August 19, 1896. That was the last place I had him for sure in the 1920 census. He had a wife named DORA, nee WILLIAMS, but she passed away in 1922 so I am sure he had remarried at least once. Cecil is my husband granduncle. Cecil was the sibling to husband's grandfather, William M. JONES. The names of parents for Cecil were John Washington JONES and Martha Thomas HAMILITON. Thanks for any help you can give. Sue Jones [email protected]
