    1. Jolly Family....
    2. Bishop, Paul
    3. Hi all... Just resending information, again in hopes that it may sound familiar (*grin*) to someone.. I am looking for a branch of the Jolly family, specifically, my birth family... I was placed for adoption as a baby, and though I was adopted by a very loving family, my adoptive parents have unfortunately passed away quite a few years ago. My adoptive parents had told me I was adopted very early on, and to me, that made little difference, as they were always "my parents". In any case, I decided that I would begin a search in the year 2000, and here we are. What information I have: I was born "baby boy Jolly" in San Diego, California on August 7, 1967, sometime around 6:30 am. >From "non-identifying" information from adoption agency (Children's Home Society of California), my mother was unmarried- therefore, Jolly was her maiden name. She was 20 years old when I was born, so that would mean that she was born sometime between 1946 and 1948, and again from her non-identifying info, she had been born in New Hampshire- though I do not know if her parents/family were from there... but she was a resident of California at my birth. By searching social security death index, I have not found what would be a match, so she is likely alive. My mother would be 53 years now, and had two siblings: Brother - Should be 51 Years old now; was active military when I was born... probably Vietnam; though no casualties by the name of Jolly (one non-caucasian) were recorded, so I assume he is likely alive. Sister - Should be 48 years old now; was student when I was born. Since she was 15 at the time, it is unlikely that their parents had other children than the three. My mother's parents may make it somewhat easier to nail down: Her mother- LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse). Now, I make a few assumtions: that she was probably 20 or so when she had my mother, and my mother was born in New Hampshire, so my grandmother would be in her early seventies now, and had possibly been trained as nurse in NH... though it is VERY possible she could have trained elsewhere, Possibly in California. She would have been in her early 40's at my birth (based on assumptions). I do not know whether or not she is alive. As my mother's maiden name was Jolly, my grandmother was a Jolly by marriage. Her Father- He was also probably in his early twenties when my mother was born, so he is also in his early to mid seventies at this point. At the time of my birth, he was a "mobile home transporter" - which seems to indicate that he would had to have had some type of special driver's permit; possibly a CDL or Heavy Carrier. He was also listed as retired military in the non-identifying documentation. Since this is true, and he would probably have been born in the 1930's, his service was unlikely to have been in World War II- which puts him in the service most likely during Korean War and possibly Phillipines. Again, I do not know if he is alive. This is just about all that I have. The information I have on my birth father is cursory at best, so I am figuring that that I will have to identify my mother, and if I decide to contact her, then I would have to see if she remembers more information about him, and try to take it from there. I cannot emphasize enough that my goal is NOT to disrupt anyone's lives... I am looking for geneological and medical information, as well as a "sense of where I came from"... as well as (possibly) discovering whether I have siblings/half-siblings out there somewhere. Thank you all on the list for putting up with this huge email.. I don't mean to be a pest, but I decided many years ago to do this once the century turned, and if I am anything, I'm not one to give up! If any of this sounds like a possible relative, please email me, or forward this email to them...
