    3. No more information yet, though I have now helped two others find relatives that they were looking for... one a birth mother that has now found her son.. and she found him just days before Thanksgiving, and he had been looking for her too. "warm fuzzies" from that I must admit. What is RAOGK? I have never heard of that... I currently live all the way across the country- in the suburbs of Boston. I've now laid out several hundred dollars to "professional" searchers, who have gotten me nowhere.. except (I suspect) scammed. I'm still searching, and maintain hope that in time, if I keep poking around enough, I might get lucky and find a relative, an obituary, or something that may direct me in the right direction. I am planning to try to go to New Hampshire (where my mother had listed as her place of birth) to Concord to see if they will allow me to search birth records from the years 1946-48 for girls born with the last name Jolly; if the information she gave regarding her state of birth is accurate, I will then have her FIRST name, and her parent's names. I am hoping that they will let me... birth records are searchable by family members, but I of course have no "proof" that I am in fact "family". I'm still basically running with the information that was in the original email- a last name (Jolly), her age (20) and some cursory other information regarding her parents and siblings. The last name Jolly is from the California Birth Index, and has been verified against amended birth certificate number; however, the information that is available from the birth index is pretty much that- the orginal birth certificate only listed by number; I was given name "Baby Boy", and she gave her maiden/last name as Jolly- no first name. This is the standard for children placed for adoption at the time, in 1967. No hospital, doctor, names, or anything else. I was hoping I might get some leads before Thanksgiving; maybe Christmas... New Years... Easter? Who knows. I'm continuing the "canvass" emails, hoping that I might get lucky.. though I'm sure I must be getting annoying to anyone with the last name with an email account anywhere in the country!! If nothing else, I guess it's an interesting hobby.. Let me know if you come across any other Jolly folk that might be a match.. had one "false alarm" about two months ago; thought I had found my uncle.. turns out it wasn't him, (a man by the name of Russell Jolly) but he was a heck of nice guy, and we ended up chatting quite a while on the phone... same thing with a woman from California (a Doctor) who I thought might have been my Grandmother; she referred me to her brother in Oregon, Donald, that knows a lot about the Jolly family, and we also chatted for quite a while. Seems the Jolly family is in general a pretty nice crowd.. now if I could only figure out where I fit into the puzzle... Keeping the faith! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving, and hope the rest of the year and holidays treat you well! -Paul Bishop (aka Baby Boy Jolly 8/7/67) -----Original Message----- From: Deborah To: JOLLY-L@rootsweb.com Sent: 11/24/00 5:02 PM Subject: Re: Jolly Family.... Have you received any further information? Do you live in the San Diego area? I know in Los Angeles all births before 1964 are confidential, but yours is after that, so someone from RAOGK should be able to help you. I was reviewing old emails that contain surnames in my family. Unfortunately Jolly's I have are only in England. 3. Wow! Sometimes the simplest ideas are the hardest to obtain. Someone was very nice to mention marriage records. Will as it turns out, California has marriage indexes on microfishe for 1960-1980 for the entire state. It might be time consuming, but find all females married in San Diego with last name Jolly and around 'xx' years old. Review marriage certificates for ones that are nurses. I can do the first part from Los Angeles, but I can not review the marriage certificates. Might be a lead, tho. If she moved away, we all could be spinning our wheels.
