Equally frustrating is that my WILSON's were from PA, as were my JOLLEY'S that married into that by the time both families left PA abt 1835 and met each other in Allen Co, OH by 1895. Hi Carol, How frustrating to see you looking for JOLLY and WILSON - both mine name wise but not in FACT! My WILSONs were from YKS. Hi Listers, I'm resubmitting my interest in the JOLLY name and link to WILSON. My details are very limited but perhaps someone has a connection(fingers and everything crossed)! My gt.grandfather was James Robert WILSON born 1843/44 in Muthill, Perthshire, Scotland. His parents were Robert WILSON (tailor) and Jane JOLLY or JOLLIG or JOLLING and I don't know of other children. On 18 March 1878 James Robert WILSON married Annie Louisa LAMONT at the Bible Christian Church, Camperdown (Geelong) Victoria, Australia. They had three daughters Mary Ann (1879-1936) Jane (1880-?) and Abigal/Abigail (1882-1884). Annie Louisa died in the same year (1884) as her youngest daughter Abigail. According to family 'legend' James Robert WILSON changed his name to Robert KING and died at the Melbourne Hospital on 10 June 1896. I'm unable to find out when James Robert arrived in Australia - did he bring his parents, brothers/sisters or any of Jane JOLLY's family? Regards from Carol Battishill, Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia I
I am still searching for information leading to the conclusion of who the parents were for the Jolly boys of Butler and Venango counties in the late 1790's. They were Thomas and Samuel and have been found at least briefly in Westmoreland Co. Where were they born and their parents names.

In response to Kay's question "where are you", listed below are details of my JOLLY family: Earliest definite record is Richard Jolly marr. Sarah Wyard on 23 Feb 1762 at Deopham NFK. Two earlier generations - Richard JOLLY marr. Ann Eaton 18 Jan 1706 at Hackford and his son Richard Jolly marr. Ann King 21 Sep 1731 at Crownthorpe - have not been definitely tied in. Other surnames marrying into this family in NFK were: Clarke, Bush, Eke, Chamberlain, Meek, Griffin, Rowing, Brasnett, Pond, Land and Read. Other villages they moved to were Hackford and Hingham. I also have some notes on early Jolly families not connected to me, living in Barham and Attleborough. Eril Willmott Melbourne AUS
My family is descended from the Dudley Jolly b. 1736 d. 1821 in Roane Co., TN -> his son William J. Jolly b. 1765 d. 1835 in Roane Co., TN -> his dau Diana Elizabeth Jolly -> her son Alexander English Brandon -> his dau Emlis Jane Brandon. Jayne W. Dye, Lancaster OH (yes, I am in Ohio but the Jollys from whom I am descended were TN.)
Hello, evryone. I am Marlene Jolly from Worden, IL. I am searching for my husband's elusive ancestors :-) Miles Jolly was b. about 1814 in NC, according to all census records. I have found nothing to verify his parents and grandparents. I have been told his father was Allen, from Iredell Co, NC, but no proof. I found Miles in the 1840 Smith Co, TN census and shortly after that he came to IL. By 1850, he was in Perry Co, Mo. By 1860, in Jackson Co, Il; 1870 Scott Co, MO. His wife, Mary Uhles Jolly, died at Randolph Co, Mo 1880. Does anyone have any Miles Jolly in their line? Thanks and have a GREAT day! Marlene
I am still seeking info on my g--g-grandmother, Phoebe JOLLY MARTIN BARNES LEWIS! She was quite a lady and would love to know from whence she came. She married MARTIN and had Priscilla; married Richard Weaver BARNES and had Susan, Amelia (my ancestor) and Weaver; married Ezekiel LEWIS, no issue. In the 1820s she rode a horse from MD to OH with Weaver on in front of her to see her daughters who had already moved to Perry Co. OH. Amelia married Jacob PETTY there and raised her family there with my ancestor Josiah remaining on the farm. Phoebe was b. ca. 1775, younger than Barnes by about 15-20 yrs, and died in Ohio several years after her migration. Marjory A. Austen MAPPAusten@aol.com
Hi Peter, No, I think it is just quiet. But then again!.......... Yes, watched a bit of the Gallipoli service. I thought both prime ministers spoke well. I think the Perth dawn service had abt a 12,000 turnout too so a commentator at the Perth march said. Good to see so many young ones turning up too. I always go but my husband doesn't - he gets too emotional even now. He sits at home and watches it on TV. Hi Kaye, You have been quiet too! Maybe because the network has collapsed? I have been trying to unsubscribe to a list for five days, nothing happened until today. My unsubscribe requests kept on coming back to me like boomerangs as not deliverable. On the subject of ANZAC Day: did you watch the service from Gallipoli....very moving. We had 12,000 at the Dawn Service today, a record. -- Peter Skeehan, Melbourne; Australia The future ain't what it used to be.
Hi all, Have had a few new subscribers and a few oldies have also contacted me privately to see if they are still subbed as no messages are coming through. The reason for that is - that there are no messages coming through! So how about everyone particularly you new pple introducing yourselves so that we know where you are from. I have been a bit quiet myself for a while due to work commitments but should be back in circulation a little more in the next couple of weeks. It is ANZAC Day here in Australia [& NZ}, so there are services all over Aus. I have just returned from our local one and watched, as I do every year, my eldest daughter marching at the head of the Vietnam Vets carrying her Australian flag that was presented to her in memory of her father. Always brings a tear to the eye - for all vets who served in all wars, not just Vietnam. Also got VERY wet! Had a very heavy downpour right in the middle of the service! At least it wasn't cold! That's it from me. Now you all know that the JOLLY L is still in action, let's hear from you all! Jayne, Titus Joll(e)y was the son of John and Hannah (Titus) Jolley. They had several children, the two youngest being Titus and Charles. I am descended from Charles and there is a lady I have communicated with who is descended from Titus. Her name is Mary Henke and she can be reached at mlhenke@teleport.com. She is a wealth of information concerning the Jolly/Jolley clans and should be able to give you a good deal of information concerning Titus.
