Hello! I am looking for more information on the family of Charles Johnston & Matilda Adams. I am descended from their son Joel D. Johnston. Charles Johnston, b. 8 Nov 1808 in Barren Co. KY and died 11 May 1854 Monroe Co. KY. Married Matilda Adams (dau J. Adams & E. Gillock) in Barren Co. KY (I have a date of 7 March 1837 but I think that it is incorrect as it is after their first 2 children were born) Children: William Lemuel, b. 24 Jun 1832 KY d. Jun 1866 KY m. Cynthia Lee Martha, b. 1834 KY m. John Lee John, b. ABT 1838 Eliza, b. ABT 1839 Mary, b. ABT 1841 James T, b. ABT 1846 Joel D, b 24 Aug 1848 d 4 Jan 1934 (my GG Grandfather) Kitty S, b. abt 1851 m.Andrew Merriman Gillock I am currently 'stuck' on Charles's parents - have seen Thomas Johnston b. 1785 N.C. and also John Johnston & Susanne Southern as his parents. Any leads would be greatly appreciated on Charles' parents, siblings and further information on the spouses / children of Joel D's brothers and sisters.
