    2. I have a Thomas Johnston born about 1804 in Dumfries Scotland married to Mary Atchinson. They came to the United States with two children Henry Bell or Belgium Johnston and Isabelle. Henry was born April 27,1838 in Dumfries and Isabelle after that. I know they were in the states before 1866 because Henry married Nancy C Green in Riley Co Kansas in 1866. I believe the family came in at New York some place. There is said that one child was born in New York and then two or three others born in Wi but have not been able to confirm any of this. My husband is Henry great grandson. Henry died in Riley counts Kansas and is buried in the cementry with my husbands grandfather and father and most of the families. I would love some help if anyone has any information. This is my brick wall. Janet Johnston

    3. The immigrants who came in to New York as late as the 1860's should be published as they were required to register when they came into the country. Also check to see if there was a Ships' Passengers List collection at the National Archives or at maybe Ellis Island. ----- Original Message ----- From: <JJKOOKIE@aol.com> To: <JOHNSTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 08, 2004 9:55 AM Subject: [JOHNSTON] Thomas Johnston > I have a Thomas Johnston born about 1804 in Dumfries Scotland married to > Mary Atchinson. 3. Janet, saw your email and thought it worth a reply to see if there is a connection with my Johnstons. My names of interest are, and unfortunately this is ALL I have; Parents; William Johnston Mary Gilmore I presume they married. Children Charles Alexander Johnston b Coatsbridge Lanark in 1855. He came out to Australia married and the information I have is off his death cer, he was my Grandfather. Mary, have no place of birth nor date for her. Do not know if there were any more children. I know a member of the Johnston family went to America but do not know which generation they belonged to. Do any of these names come up in your research??? regards desperate Desley
