    2. Doc - Very well said in your summation. Your remarks previous were logicial and helpful, and very much in the spirit of the site. You should be thanked. ....... No, I haven't been involved in these discussions or quest. Harry Johnston

    3. Genealogists teach that the best possible evidence is that which was written at the time of the event, by an eyewitness, especially for the purpose of recording that event. So, we go from there. Beverly Shuler ----- Original Message ----- From: <HL2819@aol.com> To: <JOHNSTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 05, 2004 4:04 PM Subject: Re: [JOHNSTON] Benjamin H. 3. Thank you for your kind remarks, both you Harry and Beverly Shuler. I was asked to help and I always am eager to help anyone searching for ANY of their ancestors. But as all of us that have been doing this for any amount of time, details help, especially when and where they were living last. Although I got a lot of rebuttal about written documents NOT being the best evidence, I will remind those of you that have not submitted your materials for inclusion in the DAR or SAR, you will asked to prove by written evidence, of which, public record is the best, to prove your links to your antecedents. I feel that enough has been said on this subject and I will therefore move on to something else. Respectfully yours, doc

    3. I read them all, as well. Keep thinking that my old Sen. James Johnston, Jr., Esq. of Twiggs Co., GA, must have some other descendants than my family! He had ten children! Happy Holidays, and thanks a whole bunch of Christmas greens.
