I have JOHNSTON in S.C. but have only traced them as far back as 1848 in Charleston, South Carolina. My grandfather, Owen Benjamin Herbert Johnston, was born 1848 in Charleston and his mother & father according to census records were both born in SC but haven't been able to identify them yet. Owen's mother was Margaret (can't read last name on Owen's sister's 1927 death certificate) and father was O. Johnston. Any clues to follow would be appreciated. Shirley Johnston LaGarde
