Hello Lucy, I don't think we could be related, but you never know. As far as I know, mine probably came from Isle of Wight Co., VA., but some think James was born in PA. If so, he wasnot of the IofW family. I do know that his family was probably from near Brunswick Co., VA, at the time he decided to move to Camden Dist., SC . He got his GA land as bounty for his service as a GA Minuteman, in which he was a Sgt. Then he either had or went to school in order to get a law degree. Of course, in those days, I don't know exactly what that would require. Maybe nothing more than studying up and taking a test. He became a lawyer and a Justice of the Peace. Then later, a State Senator in GA. Sure wish I did know something about his family. If I could find his first wife's maiden name, it would really be nice!
