    3. Matt, I don't have any information on your line, but you seemed so courteous I thought that I would reply. And by the way I was in Jamestown for a few years working at the DePuy-Sorkness Clinic. Both of those old doctors are dead and the clinic is no more. My game was Ophthalmology. Loved the people up there but couldn't handle the winters. I'm sorry that I couldn't be of help, you darn tooten!!. doc ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matt & Linda Smith" <mattandlindasmith@charter.net> To: <JOHNSTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 16, 2005 5:18 PM Subject: [JOHNSTON] My Johstons > Hello there! > > My first post to this page is a pleasure because it comes as part of > the demolition of an enormous "brick wall" that has seen me working > various angles for the past 5 years or more. 3. Hi Doc Flanders! Beverly here. I am facing surgery on Monday; so am getting ready for bed earlier than usual. Hope you are well. I wish I could break through my "brick wall" on old Sgt. James Johnston who went from Camden Dist., SC, to Burke Co., GA, and became first a lawyer, thne later a State Senator of Twiggs Co., GA. Of course both Burke and Twiggs are burned out counties. What I do have is his will, his portrait, everything about his second wife, Amey Lanier, and almost nothing about his first wife, Mrs. Mary Garner and her Johnston children. She already had a son named Richard Garner, then had five children after she married James J.: John, Young, Alexander, Mary and Sarah. Are you still practicing Opthalmology? Matt and Linda: How did you break that break wall? Wish I knew how!
