I believe William's father's name was Andrew. Before 1822, William was sent to Quebec, Canada to work for relatives by the name of Torrance, also from Scotland. Can anyone please tell me what records are available that might have information about Johnston/e families living in or near Glasgow in 1795? Would a parish have recorded in its books that a person moved to another country? Thank you for any suggestions.
