I'm looking for the origins of a John Johnston who was born perhaps around 1774 in Ireland, married Martha _______ either there or in this country about 1807, and lived in "eastern Pennsylvania" in 1812, when my great great grandfather Joseph Johns(t)on was born. By 1817, the family was in Wells Twp., Jefferson County, Ohio. They moved to Neelyville, Morgan County about 1830, where John died within a few years, leaving a substantial family, including John, Abraham, George W., Ellen, Sarah and William. On the 1850 census of Beech Creek Twp., Clinton County, I noticed a Clark Johnston, age 39, and nearby a John Johnston, age 35, with son Joseph. Not much to go on, I appreciate.
