The second site you posted shows Aquilla died 1788 and had children: Priscilla, John S. and Robert Aquilla. Crozier's history of Spots. Co. (Will Book E, p. 894) says d. Feb. 5, 1784 (but I think that might be date "will dated") and Bond posted in court July 1, 1788. (His wife was Elizabeth Winn (Wynn) previosuly married to Ralph Richards and Thomas Fortson.; by whom she had William 1736 &Thomas in 1742) Geo. King (noted VA genealogist) also wrote that Aquilla was in court a couple of times for having lived in adultry with Elizabeth Carey. Then there is this account in the Virginia Gazette on Apr. 25, 1791, about a court case dated Mar. 9, 1791: Jennings Burrus and Elizabeth his wife and Mary Johnston and John Johnston infants by the said Jennings Burrus their next friend (plaintiffs) and Benjamin Winn, amdr. (with will attached) of Aquilla Johnston, decd., William Duerson and Elizabeth his wife, Richard Johnston, Sarah Johnston, Molly Johnston, Nancy Johnston, James Johnston, and Aquilla Johnston, infants under 21 which Elizabeth, Richard, Sarah, Molly, Nancy, James, and Aquilla are children of Aquilla Johnston decd, George Goodloe, James Stevens and Mary Byrd his wife, John Goodloe, Jospeh Rawlings and Elizabeth his wife, Robert Goodloe, Aquilla Goodloe, Henry Goodloe, and George Goodloe infants under 21 whcih said Mary Byrd, John, Elizabeth, Robert, Aquilla, Henry, and George are the children of Priscilla, late wife of Georeg Goodloe the elder and one of the daughters of Aquilla Johnsotn , the elder, dec'd.! (defend's) the families of Spotsylvania Co. Here are some things that this article makes me think about: John is under 21 in 1791; so he must be born after 1770? Mary also under 21; is she a daughter or daughter-in-law of Aquilla the elder? The data in the link you gave above shows John b. 1745 and married to Margaret Farrish. (Farris and Burrus have a similar sound, Margaret might also be called Mary) If both John and wife were under 21, perhaps her father stood for them in court? This is the only place I have ever come across the term "their next friend." But, Priscilla is listed as "One of" the daughters of Aquilla; was Mary a younger daughter born after 1770? Apparently Aquilla's (Sr.'s )son (Robert?) Aquilla died before July 1786 when his wife. Milly was in court as his amdx. Aquilla (Jr.)'s children are listed; Elizabeth is married to William Duerson. Priscilla Johnston Goodloe is also dead (d. 1784) and her husband and children are listed; Mary Byrd Goodloe married to James Stevens and Elizabeth Goodloe is married to Joseph Rawlings. Benjamin Winn, the admr. of Aquilla's will (the elder) was a cousin to Elizabeth. It looks like Jennings Burrus (thier next friend) is suing the rest of Aquilla Sr's heirs on behalf of John and Mary Johnston, who are under 21 years of age. This raises questions, but, alas, does not answer them.
