Dear List, Help! I am at a brick wall. I have posted this before and so I thought I would try again. Maybe someone will know something this time. I am trying to find out information about the parents of my G-grandparents on the Johnston side of the family. They seemed to have lived in Monroe Co., OH in Stafford, Franklin Township, OH just above Bethel Township, OH. My great-grandfather Benjamin Johnston, b. c. 1862 was mar. to Catharine Iola Crook. They had ten children--only one girl whom they named Mary (I believe after Catharine's mother). This would make Airy my GG-grandmother. As far as I can figure Benjamin's mother's name was Airy Johnston, b. c. 1824. They appeared in the 1880 census in FamilySearch as one family. She was listed as a widow. Since he was 18 and she was 56, I thought that perhaps he was the baby of the family, working outside and living at home to help out with the farm. But I have never been able to find any other children. She states that she was widow, and I thought that perhaps the father had been killed in the Civil War. If her married name was Johnston, I have no idea what her maiden name was. A great uncle said that his father had a half brother named Solomon Johnston, but both sets of grandparents were dead when he was born. He never knew any of them. In the 1900 census, I think I saw her listed as living in someone's home in Bethel Twp. However, I failed to note his name. I cannot find Airy Johnston's name listed anywhere other than the two places I have mentioned. I have just drawn a blank no matter where I look. Does anyone have any information about her anywhere? Does anyone researching the Johnston families have any mention of her anywhere? Help! Help! Does anyone know anything? Thanks, Sandy
