It may have been due to the fact that other family members were also on the fire department. From: The Columbus Citizen, Saturday, May 21, 1932 (page 13) JOSEPH JOHNSON DIES Funeral for Retired Fire Department Captain to Be Held Monday. Joseph M. Johnson, 62, retired captain in the fire department, died Friday at his home, 1241 Indianola avenue. He had been ill two weeks. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Policemen's and Firemen's Benefit Association. Surviving him are his widow, a son, Joseph W. Johnson, former lieutenant in the fire department and now living in Laurelville, O; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth L. Fouty, 289 Garden road; nine grandchildren, three brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held in the Glenn L. Myers chapel at 10 a. m. Monday with Rev. E. F. Noethlich officiating. Previous to his retirement he was stationed at the Russell street and No. 10 engine houses. His wife, Mrs. Lillie L. Johnson; a son, Joseph W. Johnson of Laurelville; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth L.
