From: The Columbus Citizen, Monday, November 18, 1935 (front page) UNKNOWN MAN DIES IN FERA OFFICERS An unidentified man dropped dead today from heart disease at the FERA relief offices in the old Post Office, State and Third streets. The body was taken to the Schoedinger Co., 229 E. State-st. The man, who had a mustache and was white haired, was described as having a scar three inches long on the top of his head. He wore a gray suit, dark striped trousers, blue work shirt, dark sweater and blue coat. A gold wedding ring was on his left hand. No papers were found. He was five feet, eight inches tall and weighed 165 pounds. ========== From: The Columbus Citizen, Tuesday, November 19, 1935 (page 15) LOCAL DEATHS THOMAS C. JOHNSTON Funeral arrangements were being completed today for Thomas C. Johnston, 47 W. Fulton-st, who was identified by his son, Clarence P. Johnston, six hours after he fell dead in the FERA relief offices in the old Post Office Building yesterday. Mr. Johnston, who was 70, also is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dixie Johnston; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Abashear and Mrs. Lulu Young; two brothers, a sister and nine grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are being made by William E. Services Thursday, 2 p. m., at the William F. Feil Funeral Home, 1387 Forsythe-av. (same page, upper right hand corner) Plan Rites for Man Who Died in Relief Office Clarence J. Johnston, 1353 East Fulton street, Monday night, identified the body of his father, Thomas C. Johnston, age 70, 47 West Fulton street, who fell dead six hours earlier in the F. E. R. A. relief offices, old post office building, State and Third streets. Dr. Edward E. Smith, coroner, stated death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. He is survived by his widow, Dixie; his son, Clarence P., and two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Abashear and Mrs. Lulu Young, Tampa, Fla.; nine grandchildren, two brothers and a sister. William F. Feil is in charge of the funeral.
