Dear Jean; it looks like I now have the connection for our Johnstons! We are indeed cousins!!! I have received lots of great assistance in tracking these folks down. I was beginning to think I was never meant to find these folks!!! 1. John Johnston 1779 NC 2. John Clark Johnston 1798 Warren, TN 3. Thomas Johnston 1823 Warren, TN 4. George William Johnston 1854 Benton, AR 5. Harmon Richard Johnston 1875 Benton, AR 6. William LeRoy Johnston 1906 Joplin, MO 7. Bill LeRoy Johnston 1929 Joplin, MO 8. Gerald Hankins Johnston 1959 Okla. City I am number 8. Now, your George Washington Johnston was a younger brother of Thomas Johnston, my number 3 above. It appears that many of the family stayed in TN, near the border of AL. However, many of them went to AR and MO, particularly southwest MO. Look this over & se what you think. Could you please send your data again, as I have misfiled it! Also, do you need for me to send mine on the descendents of Thomas Johnston? I am really glad to find this connection. You were so right! It was there after all, I just had to be patient! Thanks! Gerald Hankins "Jerry" Johnston P.S. Do you have any information about the parents of John Johnston, number 1 above, and his family & origin?
Jerry, Who's Jean, and how related? Are you still in Oklahoma? Are there any other relatives there? My grandfather, grandmother, Dad and brother are buried in the Jennings Cemetery. And I know Sherman Johnston, Ruby Standley Arnett(my aunt), and their children were from the area. Ruby's son's name is Gilbert Arnett and Sherman's son is Larry Johnston(supposedly in real estate). Maybe you could track them down. They used to be in the Oklahoma City area. There are tons of Johnston in Oklahoma that I can't find any connection to ours. And please send me your Gedcom of your family. On the one I sent you, my Dad is Odell Amos Johnston. Do you know where the name LeRoy started in our family? My Grandpa was Earnest LeRoy, and I see it's in your family too. Now that you've made the connection, go to GenForum "Johnston" and do some searches. You'll find there's quite a bit of info......most of which you now have, but you can make connections with others you are also related to.....we DO have cousins!
