He married Amanda M. F. Bankston, daughter of Spencer Bankston and Eunice McCoy, in Raymond, Hinds County, MS on August 3, 1836. I have an obituary from the March 11, 1836 Mississipian for an Andrew Johnston who died March 7, 1836 at Raymond, MS. The only information was that he was lately from Troy, Ohio. I believe this to be Jack's father, but I have no proof yet. Jack died at Hazelhurst, Copiah Co., MS on Feb. 1, 1865. I was told at the Miss. Dept. of Archives and History that they had no copies of newspapers for that time because of the Civil War. Amanda died at Locksley Plantation near Dry Grove, Hinds Co., MS in 1878, along with five members of her family during the yellow fever epidemic. Jack and Amanda's children were: Spencer Bankston, b. 1839, d. 11/1885, married Amelia America Price. They had one daughter, Florence Amelia Octavia V., b. 11/31/1841, d. 9/18/1878, married Daniel Williams, son of John Curtis Williams and Juliann Clower. Their children were Daniel, Julia A., Lewis, Walter and Augusta. Octavia, Daniel and Walter died of yellow fever. James M., b. 1845, married Mary F. Johnston Joseph "Joe" W., b. 1849, married Mary Carson. They had a son, Sam Carson. Mary died of yellow fever. Judge Edgar, b. 3/15/1851, d. 3/17/1884, married Augusta M. Rodgers. Their children were Edgar Bryant, Maggie, Ima, Gus Felton and Judgie Eleanor. Maggie died of yellow fever. William Hal, b. 1853, d. 11/13/1923, married Ella Pleasant, daughter of William J. Pleasant and Laura Ann Dunn. Their children were Lora, William Douglas (my grandfather, who married Anna Pricilla Clower, daughter of George Washington Clower and Mary Ann "Maggie" Riser), Frank William, Alston Peyton, Joe Pleasant and Willie Laura. Andrew J., b. 1856, d. 1857 Maggie A., b. 2/10/1858, d. 9/19/1873, buried at Raymond Cemetery near her uncle and aunt, Augustin H. And Lucy McVey Bankston.
