Posted on: Johnston Wills Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/joh/JohnstonWill/14 Surname: Johnston, Johnstone, Foster, McClain, Willson, Means ------------------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN This twenty-third day of January in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Five that I, James Johnstone of the Township of Paxton in the County of Lancaster and Province of Pennsylvania, being of perfect Mind and Memory Thanks be to God therefore calling to Mind the Mortality of the Body and that it is once appointed for all Men to die I do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. First of all I recommend my Soul to Almighty God that gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in a Christian and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but Almighty Power of God, and as to such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bestow on me I give and bequeath and dispose of the same in the following manner. First of all I order that my just debts Funeral charges be paid and discharged out of the whole of my Estate by my Executors. Imprimis I give and bequeath and dispose of to my dearly beloved son James Johnston the whole of my Plantation that I now live on to him his heirs and assigns forever together with all Movables Bills Bonds or Book debts. item it is my will and I do order my son James to pay out of my estate bequeathed to him the following legacys. Item I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Jean Johnstone now the wife of John Foster the sum of five pounds in one year after my decease be in her full share of my Estate both Real and Personal. Item I give devise and bequeath to my step-daughter Elin McClain the sum of five shillings to be in full of her share of my Estate both Real and Personal. Item I give devise and bequeath to my grand child Marthew Willson the sum of five pounds when she arrives at full age and likewise the Clothes on my Bed now and one piece of new ticking, the Beading to be given her at my decease, to be in full of her share of my Estate both Real and Personal. Item I give devise and bequeath to my Son-in-Law Thomas Means the sum of seven shillings and six pence to be in full his share of my Estate both Real and Personal. Item I give devise and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Jenet Means the sum of two pounds when she arrives of full age and not sooner to be in full her share of my Estate both Real and Personal. Item is is my will and request that my Executors take care of my Grand Daughter Marthrew Willson till such times as she comes of age or marys and that they pay nor discharge no legacys herein mentioned for one year after my decease. Item I constitute and appoint my dearly beloved son James Johnstone and John Foster to be the only and sole Executors of this my last will and Testament. And I do hereby utterly revoke and disannul all and every other former wills and legacys, ratifying and confirming this and no other to by my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and affixed my Seal this day and year within mentioned and signed sealed published declared and pronounced and delivered by me the said James Johnstone as my Last Will and Testament and in Presents of us the subscribers this Twenty-Third day of January 1775.
