Posted on: Johnston Wills Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/joh/JohnstonWill/13 Surname: Johnston, Hill, Brown, Johnson ------------------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN This ninth day of March one thousand seven hundred ninety three: I Alexander Johnston of the township of Paxton in the county of Dauphin and State of Pennsylvania being in a weak and infirm state of health but in my ordinary mind memory and judgement calling to mind my mortality and that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this may last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my soul to God, who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named not doubting but at the Resurrection I shall receive the same -?- by the might power of God. And as touching such worldly goods an Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give dispose and bequeath in the following manner. First I order my funeral charges and all my just debts to be paid and discharged out of the whole of my goods and Estate. Secondly, I give unto my beloved wife, the new end of my house for her own use, and she to be taken care of and supported during her life time in a decent manner becoming her station out of my Estate. I also allow her her bed and bed clothes, all her own clothes, her saddle and bridle and one of my horses, any milk cow she chooses out of my cattle, the half of the pewter, and the half of the Dresser furniture including pots and one hundred pounds lawful money of this State, all to be at her own disposal, said money to be paid in three equal sales out of the three first sales that accrue for my land when sold. It is my will that my lands be sold as soon as convenient after my widow decease, either by vendor or otherwise as my appear best to my Executors, and the following bequeathments to be paid out of the first sale, and the money arising from my personal Estate. Thirdly, I bequeath to John Hill, and Alexander Hill the sum of ten pounds each, and to Abigail Hill, and Jean Hill, five pounds to each. I bequeath to Gain, and James Johnston, Jr. the sum of five pounds each. Fourthly, I bequeath to James Brown, son of Charles Brown of West Hanover the sum of five pounds. Fifthly, It is my will that my personal Estate not above willed, be disposed of as soon as convenient by vendor or otherwise at the will of my Executors, and the money arising therefrom, after discharging my just debts, with the money arising from the sale of my lands, be divided among my three brothers; Josiah, James, and Gain Johnston's children, in such proportions, as a son will have as much more as a daughter. It is also my will that the children of Francis Johnston, deceased, be entitled to the sons share, equally divided amongst them, that their father would have been entitled to by this will if living. And I do appoint my trusty friends James Buyers and James Johnson, the only and sole Executor of bequeaths, legacies, and Executors by me in any way made, bequeathed or appointed heretofore, testifying approving and confirming this as my last will and testament.
