I hope this will help you. The parents of William Strong Johnston, from Sidney, were Lydia Strong and Hugh Johnston. Hugh was the son of The Rev.William Johnston, who was one of the origional settlers of Sidney Plains, NY. Hugh and many of this Johnston family are buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Sidney. You might be interested in knowing that Frances H.,d. Oct. 26, 1835, age 3mo and Wm.,d. Sept. 10, 1832, age 3mo. were both children of Wm.S. & Fanny Johnston. They are buried in the same section as Milton Johnston. Buried with Lydia and Hugh are two daughters Katharine and Sarah. These listings are from, "Etched In Stone In Sidney," by Shirley B. Goerlich, ISBN#1-887530-12-6. The index is a separate book ISBN#1-887530-31-2. Mrs. Goerlich has written several books on the Sidney area.
