Don & Others; I joined this list because of a rather speculative interest in JOHNSTONs in North Antrim. Your posting, Don, is the first I've seen referring to the area on this list. I have no knowledge of the people you mention but do have an unindexed book of the history of Derrykeighan Parish. If you wish I can look through it for reference to Johnston. I grew up in the neighbouring parish (Billy) and have been through Derrykeighan many times. My own interest in Johnstons arises from the fact that one of the sons of my greatgrandfather, Daniel Kane, was named Johnston Kane. This, according to other naming-patterns in the family, could indicate that his paternal grandmother's maiden name was Ann (or Elizabeth) Johnston. There were quite a lot of Johnstons in various townlands in Billy parish. Bob Wellington.
