Charles E. Johnston, 57 years old, 4534 Munger avenue, died yesterday afternoon at the Baptist Sanitarium. He was born near Marietta, Ohio. He was married to Miss Sadye Estes of Dallas, who survives him, fourteen years ago. Other survivors: A son, Charles A. Johnston, 10 years old; two sons by a former wife, Henry H. Johnston of Columbus, Ohio, and Guy A. Johnston of Cleveland, Ohio; his mother, Mrs. C. W. Johnston of Newark, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Faires, Mrs. Irene Evans and Mrs. Della Brown of Ohio, and five brothers, Frank, Joe, Walter, Hiram and Thomas Johnston of Columbus, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at the residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon, the Rev. Graham Frank officiating. He was a member of the official board of the Central Christian Church. The pallbearers will be Henry Peck, W. W. Boatman, W. C. Lipscomb, J. B. Cave, Dr. R. A. Terrell, H. F. Magee, A. W. Smith and J. K. Sheridan. The body will be taken to Columbus, Ohio, for burial. ===== >From The Columbus Citizen (Ohio), Tuesday, November 11, 1919, page 17, under the heading LOCAL DEATHS is the following: Charles Ernest Johnston, 57, real estate dealer and oil broker, former resident of Columbus, died Monday at his home in Dallas, Tex., according to word received by his brother, Captain J. M. Johnston of the Russell Street Engine House. Mr. Johnston left Columbus about 12 years ago. He leaves his mother, widow, three sons, six brothers and three sisters. The body will be brought to Columbus and is expected to arrive Thursday. Funeral in charge of Myers & Owens. His wife, three sons, his mother, six brothers and three sisters survive. One brother, J. M. Johnston is captain of the Russell street engine house.
