Thank you very much. This is not mine, but (from old song) "I can dream, can't I?" My James was born in 1761, possibly in PA. OK, after doing a little more searching on my own, I see where I may have encountered a problem. The 1880 Census has my Jacob Johnston as Johnson, no T and other sons in this family also have no T (but we acquire it somewhere along the way). Jacob was born 6 May 1809 in PA, his parents were born in NJ (both of them). The census also shows his wife as Eliza (instead of Elizabeth). Their son John lives next door with the Trump family as a servant (this John married into the Martin family). Does this help ring any bells? Thanks, Kristen

I believe William's father's name was Andrew. Before 1822, William was sent to Quebec, Canada to work for relatives by the name of Torrance, also from Scotland. Can anyone please tell me what records are available that might have information about Johnston/e families living in or near Glasgow in 1795? Would a parish have recorded in its books that a person moved to another country? Thank you for any suggestions.
