We believe they came from Derrykeighan, Antrim Nth Ireland. Parents were James & Peggy Ann Johnston. Thomas was the only one to arrive in Australia, quite possibly from the USA, where they went, from Ireland.

Harry was raised by a Dick and Sallie Sloan, Sallie being the sister of his mother, Maggie Dillard. Harry's father was Walter P. Johnson who was born in GA, served in the Civil War as a scout for General Natan Bedford Forrest and after separating from his wife, moved to and helped found Greer Co. OK. Apparently he lost many children to both yellow and typhoid fever. His will left everything to the Buckner Orphan's Home in Dallas, TX. Anything further would be appreciated.

Hello, I am looking g for Johnstons/Johnsons who came from Harrison or Taylor Co. West Virginia in the 1800s. Many of them migrated to Belmont, CO, Ohio some time around 1880. So far I have been able to trace a Peter Johnston who was a sheriff in Harrison Co in 1820. One of his sons was a Robert born around 1795. Robert married a Mahala Carder and then Lucy Ann Tate. One of Roberts and Lucy's children was John born around 1820 married Susan Day. their children were George Samuel, Sara Jane, Mahala, Abraham and James. I have also heard rumors that one of the spouses in the family named McDade, may have the Johnston family Bible. if this rings a bell with anyone, please contact me. This obituary appeared in the "Tomah Journal" on 4 Jan 1929. Tomah is in Monroe County, Wisconsin.) EDITH JOHNSTON ALEXANDER Edith Johnston Alexander was born in Monroe County (WI) and passed away at the Lutheran Hospital at Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Dec. 27 1928, at the age of 61 years. Mrs. Alexander had been visiting her adopted daughter when she contracted the flu. She apparently had recovered from this and on the day before Christmas she went out to call on some friends and do some shopping. On her return home she was taken suddenly ill again and was then taken to the hospital where she lived but two days. Her untimely death was a great shock to her friends and relatives. The body was shipped to Warrens (WI) accompained by Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Hermann and services were held from the Baptist church on Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. James T. Taylor. Interment was made in the local cemetery beside the grave of her husband who preceded her in death 36 years ago. Mrs. Alexander was a true and faithful Christian. She united with the local Baptist church some years ago and has lived up to this faith since. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Edgar HERMANN of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sisters, Mrs. John Wayne [should be WINN], Withbear [should be Whitebear], Minn., and Mrs. J. E. Does anyone have any info on Ann Johnston - born 1835 and died 1891 - who married Hiram Long McDaniel in 1856 in Jamestown, Moniteau Co, Missouri?

I read Emma's message and, like her, a Johnston represents a brick wall. My grandfather (on my paternal side) is the afore-mentioned George Edward Johnston, known as Ed Johnston. He married Bessie Dillon and lived most of his life in Sedalia MO where he (1) worked for the railroad, and (2) had some success as a real estate developer, particularly in the Lake of the Ozarks area. Good Morning Everyone, I have not sent this out in a very, very long time. So... I am hoping that someone new might recognize these folks or that someone might have found some new information that might help. Richard Johnston had been a brick wall for me for over 20 years. I am about to become convinced that he was an alien dropped in the middle of SE Missouri by space ship from a far off planet. And.. that at death he simply vaporized. Am seeking information on the following: Richard JOHNSTON b. abt 1794 in Georgia. Can be found in the 1850 census of Wayne Co., Missouri and the 1860 census of Reynolds Co., Missouri. He is listed as physician. I do not know who he married but apparently had at least 2 children - this info. is based on census records so I hope they are his children???? Leo Dicia Logan Johnston b. 1838 in Arkansas d. 1887 in Jack Co., Texas married James Newton Carnahan in Madison Co., Mo. in 1856 and William Johnston b. abt 1842 listed in the 1850 census of Wayne Co., Mo as age 7 and the 1860 census of Reynolds Co., Mo.
