    3. I read them all, as well. Keep thinking that my old Sen. James Johnston, Jr., Esq. of Twiggs Co., GA, must have some other descendants than my family! He had ten children! Happy Holidays, and thanks a whole bunch of Christmas greens. 3. I have a Thomas Johnston, of Fife, Scotland married to Caroline Smith, then Janet Weis, then Jannetta McRea Robb. Jannetta and Thomas are buried in the Old Bernice Cemetery of Sullivan County, Pennsylvania and I have a photo of the gravestone. I have no idea where the first two wives died or are buried. I have some information back two earlier Thomas Johnstons and two younger. Looking for any information or connections to this family would be very interesting. Doc, I can verify the above statement. As a member of NSSAR with 5 proven revolutionary ancestors I can state that genealogy without documentation is speculation. I have another ancestor for whom I am missing one link to one generation to prove my descent. It's frustrating, but one day I'll find it. All we're all really trying to do is put some flesh on the bones. Regards, Mike Johnston Oswego IL

    3. Thank you for your kind remarks, both you Harry and Beverly Shuler. I was asked to help and I always am eager to help anyone searching for ANY of their ancestors. But as all of us that have been doing this for any amount of time, details help, especially when and where they were living last. Although I got a lot of rebuttal about written documents NOT being the best evidence, I will remind those of you that have not submitted your materials for inclusion in the DAR or SAR, you will asked to prove by written evidence, of which, public record is the best, to prove your links to your antecedents. I feel that enough has been said on this subject and I will therefore move on to something else. Respectfully yours, doc

    3. hmmm, possible relationship I suppose. Have never seen a Jacob nor the last name of Blankenbaker. I don't have any records that show any of them in PA, but hey, who knows. The only name I recognize was among their children - Francis Marion. He married his second wife in Nebraska, but don't know where he married his first wife. If you find a tie, please let me know. 3. Of course things can be erroneously submitted. However, the written primary record of the event is more trustworthy than a headstone or somebody said. Folks, I am not interested in a contest of who is wrong or right. I was offering some help for someone who was asking. If you don't want my help just say so. 2. I, too, am related to General Joe through his great uncle Robert who was born in the early-middle 1700's, and lived (may have been born there, too) in Pettigo, Tyrone County, Northern Ireland. My particular branch (Robert, wife - Jenny Graham, son Francis and wife - Mary Margaret Clark) arrrived in the Port of New York on 23 Nov 1811 via the brig West Point from Londonderry. They probably lived first in Pennsylvania and then moved to the vicinity of Wayne County, Ohio, and later to Allen County, Indiana, then back to Morrow County, Ohio. Robert was a brother to Peter Johnston, Sr., grandfather to General Joseph Eggleston Johnston, son of Peter, Jr. and Martha Wood Johnston. General Joe's family lived near Farmville, Prince Edward County, Virginia. If you have more information on this Johnston line, I would love to share with you, because I am pretty much at a dead end. Thank you. Jeanne Knowlton Eldredge
